Position Summary
Job Description:
Writing Center Consultants coach writers on their writingprocesses and their works in progress and develop a variety of strategies forsupporting writers. They continue learning about best practices in tutoringwriting via reading Writing Center scholarship. They work with faculty, tutoring supervisors,and their fellow tutors. Other duties include but are not limited to maintaining awelcoming Writing Center environment and filling out report forms for tutoringappointments. Bilingual Consultants' duties may also include working withEnglish Language Learners, facilitating language conversation groups, andserving as interpreters, as needed.

Fluent in Spanish and English.
Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better if applicable and enrollment in orcompletion of at least English 1110Z or 1110 or 1120 with a grade of B orhigher or the equivalent (such as placement into English 1120).
Preferred Qualifications:
Valued, though not required, in applicants: successfulcompletion of English 1120 and/or Technical Writing, or experience with writingin any language that is not their original language, or interest or experiencein any kind of teaching, or facility with computer applications such as clouddocuments, spreadsheets, or Zoom, or other special experience or skills thatcould be useful in their tutoring of writing.
