Job description

The Student Program at Nexteer Automotive offers high-potential students meaningful opportunities to apply classroom learning in a professional environment while gaining hands-on experience and valuable industry exposure. This position will allow the Student to assist in the laboratory environment. Position will include performing various validation activities during various stages of a Product Launch. The Student will have the opportunity to interact with various Program customer groups. In this position, the Student will aid the validation group on performing tests and other miscellaneous tasks.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
  • Assist technicians with test setups
  • Perform test activities per specifications provided
  • Post process test results and write reports
  • Storage organization of components
  • Transporting of test parts from lab to lab and to various suppliers
  • Student may be asked to complete other miscellaneous tasks as they arise.

Primary Skill Requirements:
  • Candidate must be attending a 4-year university local to Saginaw
  • Candidate must be pursuing a Bachelors in Engineering
    • Mechanical / Electrical Degree program preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
  • Basic trouble shooting skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel / Word / PowerPoint is preferred
  • Candidate must be able to work onsite, 20-32 hours during Fall and Winter semesters
    • Up to 40 in the summer
  • Must have cumulative 2.7 GPA on 4.0 scale
  • Must be a full-time student (12 or more credits) during Fall and Winter semesters
  • Candidate must have right to work in the US and not require current or future sponsorship
