The Translation Project Manager Position is a crucial role for our client to manage regional cultural communication, build trust, boost innovation, connect with diverse customers, and ensuring operational success by adapting messaging, practices, and leadership to local values, customs, and communication styles to building a sense of local identity and solidarity.

Daily Tasks
  • Oversees the coordination, execution, and quality control of all translation and localization activities to ensure accurate, culturally appropriate, and accessible communications across English and Spanish audiences.
  • Interface with internal and external stakeholders within our client’s organization to write and edit customer-facing communications in both English and Spanish, coordinate with the Procurement team to develop translation solicitations, managing contracts, and ensuring vendor compliance with our client’s quality and performance standards. Issue translation solicitations, manage the Procurement process and ensure all are in compliance, and coordinate translation process using professional translation services, and performing final quality checks.
  • Create and manage specialized internal language review teams for top translated languages, including recruitment, testing and retention.
  • Update and manage communications and terminology standards in top translated languages for our client. Work with project, staff to ensure all customer deliverables are 100% accurate and on time and provides linguistic support when needed, Interact with customers for customer acing events in English and Spanish.
  • Assist with preparing correspondence and other written materials for internal and external distribution. Provide support to the office and assists other special projects and team members as needed.
  • This role collaborates closely with project staff to meet deadlines, ensure accuracy, and provide linguistic support during customer-facing events in both English and Spanish. You will support the preparation of correspondence, reports, and other documents for internal and external audiences, contributing to a unified, accessible, and multilingual communication strategy across the organization.
Requirements
  • Applicant must have project management experience and preferably in a large organizational setting.
  • Applicant must have broad foundational concepts, values of customer service, customer events, and customer communication.
  • Applicant must have strong understanding and be knowledgeable, or possess the ability to quickly learn public transit terminology. High proficiency in Microsoft Office suite. Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign and Illustrator, MS Project and SharePoint are a plus. Bilingual in Spanish is required. Must be bilingual, possess the ability to read, write and speak Spanish fluently.
  • Bachelor’s Degree, certificate, or similar in translation studies, Spanish studies, linguistics, communications, public administration, social sciences, among others.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in project management, preferably in a large organizational setting.
  • Certified Interpreter and/or Translator – documentation should indicate the certifying assessment body (ILR, ATA, etc.), any subject matter expertise, the proficiency level, specific language combinations, and proof of valid certification, and direction of translation permitted.
  • Applicant must have strong communication and organizational skills and ability to manage and lead projects. Fluent in Spanish as well as strong Spanish writing and grammar skills including notions of Spanish typographical style (punctuation, capitalization) and different varieties of Spanish (i.e. regionalism). Ability to deduce complex information into simple, customer‑friendly materials, and to serve as an interpreter as needed in community events including minority, ethnic and religious groups.
  • Knowledge of and experience with integrating/teaching CAT Tools, Translation Memories or Translation Workflow experience to new users.
  • Must be able to work under pressure, capable of translating complex information into simple materials, able to serve as interpreter and understands social groups; ethnicity, religious and others.
Position Details

Standard hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a one (1) hour unpaid lunch break. Temporary personnel may be required to work six (6) hours or more. Overtime in excess of forty (40) hours in one week is considered as overtime work; all overtime must be approved by the COTR in advance. Any assignment will be contingent upon successful completion of a background check, in accordance with applicable law.
