The Cigna Group's Actuarial Executive Development Program (AEDP) offers a premier 11-week internship that prepares future actuaries to apply data with sound judgment, connect analysis directly to real business decisions, and operate in an evolving environment shaped by advanced analytics and AI-enabled tools. As an intern, you'll solve complex business problems with real constraints and imperfect information, take ownership of a high-impact project from problem definition through recommendation, and gain exposure to people that drive healthcare forward.

Our internship is a key pipeline into full-time roles in the AEDP - our primary pathway for developing top actuarial talent. You'll receive support and mentorship from experienced actuaries and leaders while sharpening your technical foundation and building the communication, business insight, and leadership skills needed to influence outcomes.

Key Intern Responsibilities:

Own a highimpact actuarial or analytical project aligned to real business needs. or to actuarial and strategic priorities

Analyze data to uncover insights that support pricing, forecasting, reserving, or strategic initiatives.

Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to actuarial and business stakeholders.

Apply classroom knowledge to realworld problems, learning how actuarial work influences business decisions.

Collaborate with peers and mentors across teams and locations.

Develop technical, professional, and leadership skills through training, feedback, and handson experience.

We're seeking curious, driven individuals who are eager to learn, grow, and lead, who are excited to apply their academic knowledge in a real-world setting to join our AEDP Summer internship experience.

Qualifications:

  • Currently progressing toward a bachelor's degree and has completed at least two years a preferred major of actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, finance, economics, or data analytics.
  • Minimum 3.2 GPA.
  • Uses data to solve realworld problems, think through tradeoffs, and connect analysis to business impact.
  • Understands business and financial fundamentals, connects analysis to business impact, and is eager to learn how actuarial work supports decisionmaking.
  • Comfortable working with data and modern analytical tools, including strong Excel skills, and exposure to Python, R, SQL, AIenabled tools, or other emerging technologies to support analysis and drive actionable insights.
  • Communicates clearly, collaborates effectively, and works well across teams by listening actively and contributing thoughtfully.
  • Shows early leadership potential by taking ownership, thinking strategically, embracing innovation, and influencing outcomes in changing or ambiguous environments.
  • Completion of at least one actuarial exam, preferred

Additional Information:

  • Start Date: Summer 2027
  • Location: This position is based in one of the following office locations: Austin, TX; Bloomfield, CT; Denver, CO; Franklin, TN; or Philadelphia, PA.
  • Work Schedule: The role requires an on-site work schedule, Monday - Friday, 40 hours/week. There are 3 virtual working days available for interns to use during the 11-weeks
  • Relocation Assistance & Housing: Paid travel costs to-from the internship location and fully furnished housing is provided, typically shared rooming with fellow interns is offered to all actuarial interns.
  • Actuarial Exam Support: Paid study materials provided for an upcoming actuarial exam.
  • PreEmployment Requirements: Selected candidates will be required to complete mandatory preemployment tasks approximately 45 days prior to the program start date. Completion of the drug test requires availability within the United States during this timeframe.
  • Work Authorization:This position is open only to individuals who are eligible for employment in the United States and who would not require visa support including H-1B or CPT/OPT/STEM, etc., now or in the future.
  • Recruitment Process: The recruitment process is all conducted via live video including a screen with a recruiter, a first round interview, and a final round consisting of three interviews with leaders.

If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.
