Job description

At Seattle Gymnastics Academy, we operate programs under three types of categories: Play, Learn and Compete. Our Camp Instructors specialize in Play programming at our FUN Camps over Summer (and Winter) school breaks. We believe gymnastics can be enjoyed and is beneficial for anyone - including kids stepping in for the first time as camp attendees!
A great role for anyone looking for seasonal, summertime work – perfect for college students, or anyone looking for something extra during the summer! As a Camp Instructor, you will play an important role in keeping kids active and engaged during summer break, by helping guide accessible, gymnastics-based activity, and even dabbling in some fun crafts. Don't worry if you're new to gymnastics, we have a well-established and supportive training program to set you up for success.
At SGA, you can expect:

  • A priority for a work/life balance.
  • Competitive pay.
  • A comprehensive training program that will set you up for success.
  • An energetic work environment, with opportunities to transition into a permanent role and a path for career growth.

SGA Camp Instructors are responsible for:

  • Teaching basic gymnastics skills with a focus on confidence building, body control, and safety.
  • Leading campers in conditioning, fitness games and activities.
  • Maintain constant supervision of the campers.
  • Ensure safety of all campers and staff by consistently enforcing rules.
  • Act as a role model for all campers.
  • Communicate with SGA parents about their child’s progression in camp. Our coaches play a key role in their development as a child and as an athlete.
  • Assist in light cleaning and sanitation duties to keep our gyms fresh and ready for the next round of classes.

SGA is looking for:

  • Basic knowledge or experience as a gymnast is great, but we train people from all backgrounds.
  • Previous youth camp or childcare experience preferred but not required.
  • Ability to build meaningful relationships with both kids and adults.
  • Enthusiastic about working with youth ages 3-10 years old - previous experience is preferred.
  • Experience working in fast-paced, active environments
  • Ability to resolve any conflict or disagreements that may arise.
  • Desire to promote a positive learning environment for every child.
  • Highschool graduate

Summer positions begin mid June through September. Candidates must have availability Monday-Friday between the hours of 8am-4pm/5pm for full time hours, or 8:15am-12:30pm for part time hours. This position is scheduled to go from beginning of June - September with an opportunity to continue employment in the fall, depending on availability. Availability needed for the last two weeks of August required.

*For those looking to transition to a full-time / permanent employee, SGA has great additional benefits, including:

  • Closures and breaks for most holidays and / or school breaks, so that both our gymnasts and staff are able to spend time with family and friends and relax.
  • A comprehensive benefits package, which includes health insurance, Health Savings Account, 401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Ownership Plan, Paid Time Off, Paid Family Leave and more!
  • Discounts for class tuition and academic preschool enrollment for immediate family members.

*Please speak to our HR team / hiring manager about transitioning to permanent employee status
