Lake City Care Center is hiring a Life Enrichment/Activities Intern, whom will provide 1:1 companion visits with our care center adult Transitional and elderly Long-term unit residents/patients, lead life enrichment programs/activities, games, events, chaperone on outings along with other Life Enrichment staff, and help build meaningful relationships with patients/residents. Lake City Care Center is located in beautiful Lake City, MN. Owned by Mayo Clinic and managed by Ebenezer, Minnesota's largest senior living operator. The Care Center encompasses a transitional care unit, long term care, and memory care unit for older adults.
Paid Internship schedule is 56 hours in two weeks (4-5 days week), estimated 9-3:30 pm Monday-Friday shifts. Start and end times of each shift may vary slighly and could include later afternoon, early evening or occasional weekend shifts as needed. We can consider hiring someone at lesser hours (40 -48 in two-weeks= 3 days week). Our PAID Internship starts June 15, 2026, and ends August 14, 2026 (end date could be flexible). Intern must be able to work a minimum of 6 weeks. Ideally a total of 9 weeks. Position is paid $17.00 hour and is temporary, with the intention to have intern apply/transfer to a very part-time or casual scheule in a regular paid position (culinary, CNA/RA, life enrichment etc ) with Ebenezer (any location) after August 15th
Life Enrichment/Activities Department Intern duties may include:
  • Create a project that intern would own to support Life Enrichment at our care facility
  • Facilitate and offer pet visits to patients
  • Assist senior-age residents during offsite outings
  • Invite/gather residents for group programs
  • Assist instructor during art groups
  • Assist Life Enrichment Director during outdoor visits
  • Help prep and organize social events or parties for residents and patients
  • Provide 1:1 visit with patients/residents
  • Assist instructors for music and bingo
  • Stock and offer independent leisure cart activities to patients and residents
  • Design and print Activities/Events Calendar
  • Share ideas, suggestions, questions, and insights during LE meetings
  • Be open and willing to share your skills and interests with residents
  • Collaborate with instructor to provide exercise group 2x a week
  • Facilitate activities and groups for long term care and transitional care patients
  • Complete manicures for patients and residents

Required Qualifications
  1. Going into senior year of High School Fall 2026 (in Minnesota)
  2. Able to start June 15 and will end or around Aug 14, 2026. Some time off requests can be considered
  3. Must have an interest in the Aging /Senior Services field , Rehab Therapy, Recreational Therapy or Healthcare
  4. Interest in supporting, conversing, and bringing a caring attitude for our senior (older adults) residents/patients
  5. Good clear communication skills
  6. If offered, must be able to complete an onboarding new hire appt in Lake City, MN no later than 2 weeks before start date (certain immunizations, background checks, forms of ID for employment)
  7. Basic computer skills: MS Office
  8. Ability to lead small groups of residents in activties

Preferred Qualifications
  • Customer Service, healthcare, senior care work experience OR related volunteer or activities/club experience
  • Interest in staying on and growing with Ebenezer
