Summary:

Do you love working with youth? Do you want to make an impact on the life of one of hundreds of kids living right here in Orange County? Does helping a child who is struggling with friends, academics, or who just needs someone to listen to make you light up? Then come join us this summer for the YCO summer program! The mission of the Youth Centers of Orange is Empowering Youth With The Skills And Strength To Succeed, and in order to do this most effectively we need staff who are mission driven to love and support our youth!

Under the direction of the YCO Site Manager, the Program Staff will provide support in assigned program areas during our summer camp, ex: education, games, art, dance, stem etc. You will play a key role in educating our students through their many activities and experiences during their day, while also receiving training and teaching by our knowledgeable Coordinators and Directors. You will get to collaborate with other staff, implement recreational plans and activities, oversee student's needs, and lead students in fun-filled projects as well as accompany students on field trips! This is the perfect opportunity for someone looking to enter any field that engages with children and we can't wait to get to know you!

Essential Duties& Responsibilities:

  • Implement and oversee student activities
  • Oversee students needs, making sure they participate in activities and are involved in programming
  • Supervise students during meals/snacks
  • Instruct students in daily routines and cleanup tasks
  • Follow safety and emergency procedure and guidelines
  • Work one-on-one with students
  • Instruct and organize student projects (arts and crafts, dramatics, sports, stem, etc) โ€ข May perform administrative tasks (filing, record keeping, etc.) as needed
  • Communicates effectively and courteously with all parties
  • Meets attendance and punctuality requirements
  • Provides assistance and support to other students as needed
  • Knows and complies with YCO policies and procedures
  • Supports the vision and goals of YCO and The HUB OC
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma required, some college preferred
  • First aid and CPR training and certification required
  • Previous experience with minors in an individual or group setting preferred
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and manage time efficiently
  • Ability to serve as a positive role model and mentor
  • Encouraging to students and patient when instructing
  • Ability to communicate with parents and guardians when needed
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable in a team player role
  • Creative and innovative thinker and planner
  • Bilingual Spanish a plus
  • Strict adherence to program philosophy, standards and goals

Other Job Requirements:

  • Maintains professional behavior, dress and appearance at all times
  • Attends meetings and trainings as requested
  • Clears background investigation (i.e., DOJ, FBI, sex offender registry, drug test, TB test) as applicable and in accordance with The HUB OC policies and procedures

Other Information:

  • Camp operating hours are Monday-Friday 7:00AM-6:00PM and are scheduled out in staggered shifts daily ranging from 4-8 hour blocks based on availability
  • We do offer after school programming during the school year as well
