Job description

The 2026 Summer at Mayfield Junior School Program offers a unique blend of summer courses aimed to satisfy the interests of every child. The Summer Counselor position is designed to assist the lead instructor(s) in the development and implementation of curriculum for any given summer course.

The summer program is open Monday-Friday from 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.  The program starts June 15, 2026 and ends July 17, 2026. No classes will be held on June 19th and July 3, 2026, in observance of Juneteenth and the Independence Day holiday.

Essential Duties

A Summer Counselor's duties include but are not limited to:

  • Classroom preparation
  • Assisting with recess and lunch duty, playground and field supervision
  • Participation with students in activities/lessons
  • Campus maintenance
  • Escorting students to and from class or the carpool area
  • Morning, lunchtime and afternoon carpool duty
  • Maintaining positive and encouraging relationships with all students

The Summer Counselors should exhibit emotional maturity, good moral character and integrity, and experience with children is always a plus. All Summer Counselors must have completed at least their freshman year of high school by the start of Summer Program to apply for the program.
