Job description

The Facilities Summer Grounds Specialist works alongside the Facilities team to make sure that our property is a clean, orderly and safe environment. They will participate in lawn mowing, watering, mulching and tree and pond maintenance. This role will be required to use many kinds of equipment in a safe and professional manner.

Major Responsibilities

  • Prioritize and complete tasks outlined in daily work assignments to ensure the grounds cleanliness meets established standards
  • Remove trash and recyclables in accordance with established procedures
  • Complete all mowing assignments by using proper equipment - keeping safety in mind.
  • Respond to ministry service requests as needed
  • Perform custodial and light maintenance duties as instructed by supervisor
  • Weed flower beds and parking lot islands as directed
  • Mulch flower beds and parking lot islands as directed by supervisor
  • Trim trees and bushes by using safe techniques as directed
  • Repair turf and seeding projects as needed
  • Assist with grounds keeping projects as required
  • Operate power equipment such as various lawnmowers, pressure washer, hand and power tools, weed whips and church vehicles as needed
  • Report safety and security concerns immediately to facilities leadership
  • Respond to facility incidents/emergencies in a timely manner and timely completion of an incident report
  • Work alongside volunteers and community service workers as assigned
  • Demonstrate a vibrant and growing relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Active participant or member of Elmbrook church who supports and endorses the statement of faith, vision and core values
  • Prioritize and execute assigned work in a timely manner while achieving high quality results
  • Safely operate a variety of manual and powered equipment and vehicles
  • Understand and carry out oral and written directions under general supervision
  • Work efficiently, independently or in a team capacity
  • Build and maintain cooperative, healthy and positive working relationships with staff and volunteers while demonstrating sensitivity to and respect for a diverse population, work effectively in and around the public within large and small group ministry and event settings
  • Proper use, handling and disposal of a wide range of chemicals according to state and federal regulations
  • Lawn care and equipment and techniques
  • Possess a valid Wisconsin driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • Perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to, lifting heavy items (up to 50 lbs. unassisted), bending, standing, climbing or walking.
  • Work under inclement weather conditions.
  • Possess some general mechanical aptitude or demonstrate a willingness to learn new technical skills
Employment Information

This position is part time, hourly and classified as non-exempt

24-29 Hours/Week (some weekends might be required)

This position is temporary seasonal - When school is let out until school resumes

Salary - dependent on experience, skills & education

Reporting Structure

The Facilities Summer Grounds Specialist will be accountable and report directly to the Facilities Director of Elmbrook Church.
