ABOUT THE ROLE

Mansueto Ventures, publisher of Inc. and Fast Company is looking for editorial interns on a rotating basis for Fall, Spring and Summer internships for both brands. As an editorial intern, you will be directly involved in the overall editorial process, seeing your stories develop from start to finish. This is an especially good opportunity for aspiring business journalists, but any with intense curiosity about the way the world works will find an enriching professional and personal experience will be considered and should apply.

Inc. chronicles the world of entrepreneurship, providing business owners with the information, advice, and inspiration they need to lead their growing companies. It is the nation’s leading brand for entrepreneurs. By focusing on emerging enterprises, Inc. is often the first to write about companies that go on to become household names.

Fast Company is the world’s leading business media brand, with an editorial focus on innovation in technology, leadership, world changing ideas, creativity, and design. Written for and about the most progressive business leaders, Fast Company inspires readers to think expansively, lead with purpose, embrace change, and shape the future of business.

This is a 12-week program, 35 hours per week, on a hybrid schedule Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at our office in 7 World Trade Center, NYC. Hourly rate is $17 for undergraduate students and $20 for graduate students.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Pitching story ideas.
  • Reporting and writing stories for Inc.com and Fastcompany.com.
  • Working with print editors on annual franchise packages for Fast Company.
  • Research and fact-checking.
  • Assisting editorial staff during live journalism events.
  • Working with the video and social media teams to produce content.
  • Performing various editorial administrative tasks as needed.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Drive to cover business topics.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Comfort asking questions and taking initiative.
  • Excellent grammar, spelling, and attention to detail.
  • Experience reporting, writing and fact-checking for college newspapers or previous internships preferred.
