Organization: Boys & Girls Club of Utah County

Position Type: Seasonal / Summer / Part-Time

Reports To: Site Director


Position Summary

The Youth Development Professional (YDP) is responsible for creating a safe, fun, and engaging environment for youth during the summer program. YDPs build positive relationships with members, lead activities, supervise groups, and support daily operations while helping youth learn, grow, and have an unforgettable summer experience.

This role is ideal for energetic, dependable individuals who enjoy working with children, leading groups, and making a positive impact in their community.


Program Dates & Schedule
  • Summer Program Runs: June 1 – July 31
  • Required Staff Training: Begins approximately two weeks prior to program start
  • Work Hours: Morning and afternoon shifts available, ranging from 3–6 hour shifts per day
  • Monday – Friday Schedule
Holidays Off
  • June 19 – Juneteenth
  • July 3 – Independence Day (Observed)
  • July 24 – Pioneer Day

Key ResponsibilitiesYouth Supervision & Safety
  • Provide active supervision of youth at all times.
  • Effectively manage and engage large groups of children in a safe, structured, and positive environment.
  • Maintain appropriate staff-to-youth ratios and awareness of all members at all times.
  • Follow all organization policies, procedures, and behavior management expectations.
  • Respond appropriately to incidents, injuries, or emergencies.
Program Delivery
  • Lead and assist with daily activities, games, enrichment programs, and field trips.
  • Facilitate age-appropriate activities in areas such as STEM, sports, arts, leadership, literacy, and social-emotional learning.
  • Keep groups organized, engaged, and participating during transitions and activities.
  • Help create a fun and memorable summer experience.
Relationship Building
  • Build positive relationships with youth, families, and staff.
  • Serve as a positive role model through words, attitude, and actions.
  • Support youth in developing confidence, teamwork, and respect for others.
Teamwork & Operations
  • Work collaboratively with site staff to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Assist with set-up, clean-up, attendance tracking, snack/lunch service, and transitions.
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development.
  • Communicate concerns and successes with leadership staff.

Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years old (or age requirement based on organization needs).
  • Experience working with youth preferred.
  • Ability to confidently manage large groups of children in a fast-paced environment.
  • High energy, positive attitude, and strong communication skills.
  • Dependable, punctual, and professional.
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
  • Must pass background check and any required screenings.
