We are actively searching for a Career and Technology Education (CTE/Computer Science) teacher to join our dynamic team of educators for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. An ideal candidate is someone with an ability to motivate students from diverse backgrounds and interests. The school features a collaborative learning model, block scheduling, hands-on learning along with multiple connections to Goodwin University. The successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills, a strong desire to work with students from urban and suburban settings and possess an understanding of and appreciation for multicultural education. The selected teacher will experience the new RiverTech facility set on the Connecticut River and will become a member of a dynamic team of educators. Responsibilities

The Career and Technology Education Teacher shall:

  • Provide formal instruction and leadership in computer science & information technology as assigned utilizing appropriate curriculum, equipment, and materials.
  • Expose scholars to Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence that are aligned to the district curriculum, Connecticut standards, and industry expectations.
  • Develop and implement engaging, hands-on, project-based learning experiences that promote critical thinking, problem solving, and innovation.
  • Prepare students for industry-recognized certifications and postsecondary pathways.
  • Foster student awareness of careers in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, information technology, computer science, and related STEM fields.
  • Work with CTE Director and Coordinator to determine appropriate curriculum, equipment, and materials utilizing either third party resources [e.g. consortium-based curriculum providers, commercial vendors, etc.] or by developing original coursework if necessary and as required.
  • Specify, select, install, operate, and maintain necessary equipment and/or training modules required to support the specific course(s) being taught within departmental budget restraints.
  • Prepare course syllabi addressing targeted student abilities, specific competencies, textbook requirements, grading/assessment methodology, course scheduling, and/or other items as required.
  • Support industry-based advisory panels in support of college-level computer science and information technology programs.
  • Participate in marketing and recruiting activities and provide supporting materials as required for the development of advertising promotions such as brochures, media spots, web pages, posters, etc.
  • Initiate and maintain contact with area businesses and/or manufacturers for the purpose of promoting division programs through donations, employee referral, job shadowing/internship programs, advisory panel participation, and hiring of program graduates.
  • Assist in student job placement and follow-up.
  • Perform such other duties and assume such other responsibilities as assigned by the Principal or designee.
Qualifications/RequirementsDESIRABLE EXPERIENCE & TRAINING
  • Bachelor's degree required, Masters degree preferred, and certification in appropriate area of instruction. Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
  • Work experience in meeting the needs of racially, ethnically, socioeconomically and linguistically diverse groups of youth is desirable.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with industry experience in computer science and/or information technology: Help Desk, Tech Support, Cybersecurity, Database Management, AI, related STEM coursework.
  • CSDE Certification in Technology Education: 047, 034 Computer Science and/or 029 Mathematics
  • Strong instructional skills and the ability to engage students in hands-on, project-based STEM learning.
