Job description
SUMMER SCHOOL SUBSTITUTES
The EVSC is hiring for summer school teacher substitutes. The start and end times vary between schools: 8am - 12pm or 9am - 1pm. Summer school is scheduled from June 1, 2026 - June 26, 2026. Once you have applied, your name will be provided to summer school teachers to contact you for opportunities.
Current EVSC teachers will be compensated at the rate based on the EVSC teacher contract.
EVSC substitutes will be paid the board-approved substitute rate, prorated based on the number of hours worked.
Substitutes with a valid Indiana Substitute Permit: $120.00/day for regular variable day subbing (will be prorated based on hours worked).
Substitutes with a valid Indiana Teaching License: $125.00/day for regular variable day subbing (will be prorated based on hours worked).
SUMMARY:
Instructs students and facilitates their learning in the absence of the regular teacher.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
- Provides classroom instruction to students as outlined in lesson plans.
- Creates a classroom that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
- Maintains a safe and orderly environment.
- Maintains established routine of the school and classroom procedures in which assigned.
- Maintains a professional appearance as an example to students.
- Remains at school the entire school day, unless otherwise instructed to leave by building principal.
- Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintains reasonable rules of conduct which encourage self-discipline and responsibility.
- Communicates effectively with parents when needed.
- Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and times designated.
JOB SPECIFIC SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the school community.
Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication.
Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of School Trustees policies.

None
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Must have a minimum of 30 college credit hours.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
If the candidate does not currently hold an Indiana Teaching License, you will be required to obtain an Indiana Substitute Permit.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from administrators, teachers, school board members, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, and statistical inference.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to prepare, project, monitor and document funds from multiple sources.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
