Job Description

The Mau Marine Technician Intern plays a vital role in learning and supporting the maintenance and repair operations of various types of boats and watercraft. This internship offers hands-on experience and training under the guidance of experienced marine technicians.

Responsibilities

The following responsibilities will be expected for this position:

  • Collaborate with experienced technicians to diagnose, repair, and maintain boats brought in for dealership service, ensuring high-quality workmanship.
  • Learn and contribute to routine maintenance tasks such as engine checks, oil changes, and general servicing under supervision.
  • Gain proficiency with various tools, equipment, and diagnostic instruments used in marine repairs and maintenance.
  • Maintain meticulous records of repairs, parts used, maintenance tasks, completed work, and time spent on Repair Orders, ensuring accurate and detailed documentation.
  • Communicate diagnoses, required repairs, and estimated costs to service advisors, ensuring transparent communication with customers.
  • Advise service writers regarding any additional work needed on a customer's boat, ensuring comprehensive service.
  • Maintain a friendly and helpful demeanor when interacting with customers, providing assistance and information regarding service needs.
  • Uphold the good working condition of all equipment used in repairs and maintenance activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management

Requirements

Applicants must possess the following qualifications:

  • Prior marine technician experience preferred, but not required
  • Detail-oriented and capable of multitasking effectively
  • Demonstrated skills in analyzing issues and implementing effective solutions within a technical context
  • Maintains regular and punctual attendance, displaying flexibility to work extended hours as needed to meet operational requirements.
  • Proficient in driving, docking, trailering, and hoisting various types of boats, including outboard pontoons, v-drive and inboard boats, and twin-engine boats.
  • Must be at least 18 years old with a clean driving record, meeting legal requirements for operating vehicles.
