Job description

EXTEX Engineered Products is seeking a Business Systems Summer Intern for Summer 2026 to support the organization, optimization, and automation of internal business systems. This role focuses on improving how data is structured, connected, and used across tools such as Smartsheet, Excel/Access databases, automation workflows (n8n), and reporting dashboards (Metabase).

This is a hands-on, project-based role where the intern will actively build, improve, and document systemsโ€”not just observe them.

This is an on-site Summer 2026 Internship Program that will begin June 1st and run approximately 12โ€“16 weeks, with anticipated end dates between August 28th and September 18th depending on availability. Interns will work 20โ€“30 hours per week (minimum 20, maximum 30), Monday through Friday, with flexible scheduling.

About EXTEX: EXTEX provides advanced aftermarket aerospace components and engineered solutions that support rotorcraft and fixed-wing platforms. With deep expertise in high-value parts and engineered replacements, our team delivers reliable, high-performance components that help customers reduce operating costs and extend asset life. Employees work in an environment that encourages innovation, quality craftsmanship, and responsive customer support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inventory and document existing systems, workflows, and data flows across the business
  • Clean, organize, and standardize datasets and file structures for usability and consistency
  • Build and deploy automation workflows using tools such as n8n (or similar platforms)
  • Improve existing and develop new dashboards in Metabase (or similar BI tools)
  • Support optimization and structure of Smartsheet-based processes
  • Create clear documentation, system maps, and process flows to support long-term maintainability
  • Identify inefficiencies and recommend practical improvements to systems and workflows

Qualifications:

Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelorโ€™s degree in:

    • Information Systems
    • Data Analytics / Data Science
    • Supply Chain / Operations (with a data focus)
    • Computer Science or related field with an applied focus

Preferred coursework:

  • Databases or data management (SQL, data structures)
  • Business analytics, statistics, or data analysis
  • Operations or process improvement

Required Skills

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, data cleaning)
  • Basic understanding of data structures and organization
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and improve messy or unstructured data
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills
  • Ability to document processes clearly and concisely

Preferred Technical Skills

  • Experience with workflow or project tools (Smartsheet or similar)
  • Familiarity with BI/reporting tools (Metabase, Power BI, Tableau, etc.)
  • Exposure to automation tools (n8n, Zapier, Make, or scripting)
  • Basic knowledge of databases (SQL, Access, Airtable, etc.)

Note: Experience with similar tools is acceptable; ability to learn quickly is critical.

What Weโ€™re Looking For

  • High initiative and ability to work independently on ambiguous problems
  • Strong attention to detail, especially when working with data and systems
  • Comfort asking questions and gathering information from different stakeholders
  • Interest in improving how systems and processes workโ€”not just analyzing them

Additional Requirement

  • Candidates should be able to demonstrate at least one example (academic project, internship, or personal work) where they improved, automated, or structured a dataset or process

Benefits:

EXTEX is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We consider all qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other legally protected status. Applicants requiring reasonable accommodation to complete the application process may contact Human Resources.

This position requires access to information subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Employment is contingent upon the applicant being a โ€œU.S. personโ€ as defined by ITAR (22 CFR ยง120.15), which includes U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, refugees, or asylees, as required by U.S. export control laws.

On-site Summer 2026 Internship that will begin June 1st and run approximately 12โ€“16 weeks, with anticipated end dates between August 28th and September 18th depending on availability. Interns will work 20โ€“30 hours per week (minimum 20, maximum 30), Monday through Friday, with flexible scheduling.
