Job description

Description

Do you feel you've designed just about everything by now? We do more than "just design". Our clients frequently come to us only knowing the symptoms of their problems - we get the challenge (and fun) of investigating and figuring out what's really wrong. We deliver multiple solutions and work with the client to pick the best solution for their case. Then we get to do the actual work of carrying out our ideas and solving their problems for good.

Most of our projects are renovations, frequently of only the MEP/FP systems, so it makes for some interesting and challenging projects. The fun of renovation work is dealing with the existing constraints imposed by the structure or building operations. We find ourselves regularly solving problems like how to make the equipment fit into an existing building or figuring out how the contractor will build your design. We are such great problem solvers that 95% of our clients would refer us to others. Clients choose us when they want the job done right the first time.

Clients also choose us because they like how involved our management is with the design process. And that's why our senior engineers are typically our project managers. You'll manage the project internally, but also be the face of Summer Consultants to the client, fostering that relationship. You're also encouraged to seek out new clients.

We serve our clients' missions as if they were our own, whether supporting the warfighter or our nation's finest government and educational institutions.

With our office located in the Mid-Atlantic Region, our interesting client list, and a focus on renovation, you will get to go into some interesting buildings, sometimes seeing history from the inside out. Check out our projects page for some examples of our work.

This position will report to the Vice President in charge of electrical staff in the Raleigh Office.
