Job description

Summer Day Camp Counselor - North Seattle

Associated Recreation Council, in partnership with Seattle Parks & Recreation, is currently looking for individuals who wish to actively support their communities while having fun and help provide a great experience for children ages 5-12. Our summer day camps provide a fun, creative, safe, and welcoming environment for children to learn, play, and grow.

We are hiring for Summer Day Camp Counselor positions for our Summer Day Camp programs taking place in community centers across Seattle. These are summer seasonal, non-exempt, up to 40 hr/week positions.

LOCATIONS:

North Seattle:

  • Bitter Lake @ Broadview Thomson
  • Meadowbrook Community Center
  • Northgate Community Center
  • Queen Anne Community Center

SCHEDULE

  • This is a seasonal position. The hours for summer day camp are Monday-Friday between 7:00am-6:00pm (up to 35-40hrs) until Aug 27, 2025
  • Must attend 4 days of mandatory training on June 15-18.
  • You may be asked to work at other sites as needed to cover shifts


PAY:

  • Starting Pay Rate: $22.00/hr
  • Full Pay Range: $22.00/hr-25.30/hr (Employee can earn up to $25.30/hr with continued employment.)

KNOWLEDGE | SKILLS | ABILITIES

  • Organize and lead programs and activities such as arts and crafts, organized games, cultural activities, drama, music, story hour, sports, field trips, and other special projects and events
  • Work with other staff to ensure the care and safety of participants at all times
  • Must be willing to complete training for workplace safety, summer programming training and certification in First Aid/CPR, Food Handlers Permit, HIV/AIDS blood-borne pathogens education, and STARS training

REQUIREMENTS

  • Eighteen years of age or older
  • High School diploma/GED or transcripts of secondary education
  • Must have some experience working with children
  • Must be willing to commit to the entire summer
  • If hired, must be willing to obtain Food Worker's permit, TB test, portable criminal background check, provide MMR vaccination records, copy of high school diploma or college transcript
