Our Forensic Services Team 

Within our National Financial Crimes Centre of Excellence (FC COE), we help organizations manage financial crime risk by combining regulatory expertise, data analytics, and innovative technology solutions. Our team supports financial institutions and other regulated entities in navigating anti-money laundering (AML), sanctions, anti-corruption, and broader financial crime requirements. 

As an Intern/Co-op student in Financial Crimes, you will gain hands-on exposure to client engagements while working alongside experienced professionals in a collaborative and purpose-driven environment. You will support the delivery of financial crime engagements and contribute to client projects focused on strengthening compliance programs, systems, and analytics capabilities. 

During your term, you will: 

• Gain exposure to financial crime engagements across AML, sanctions, and regulatory compliance initiatives. 
• Develop technical and analytical skills through hands-on experience with data-driven tools and methodologies. 
• Strengthen your problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills in a fast-paced environment. 
• Learn how regulatory expectations translate into practical risk management solutions for clients. 

Your responsibilities may include: 

• Supporting client engagements related to AML, sanctions, anti-corruption, and broader financial crime risk management initiatives. 
• Assisting with data analysis activities, including reviewing datasets, performing validation checks, identifying trends, and summarizing findings using tools such as SQL, Python, or other analytical platforms. 
• Supporting transaction monitoring reviews, model validation, and system testing activities by documenting observations and testing results. 
• Contributing to data mapping, cleansing, and remediation efforts to improve data quality and reporting processes. 
• Assisting in the preparation of client deliverables, including reports, presentations, dashboards, and working papers. 
• Conducting research on emerging financial crime trends and regulatory developments (e.g., FINTRAC, OSFI). 
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams including compliance, technology, data, and risk specialists.

KPMG Ontario Region Pay Range Information 

 
The expected base salary range for this position is $41,000 to $65,000 and may be eligible for bonus awards. The determination of an applicant’s base salary within this range is based on the individual’s location,skills & competencies, and unique qualifications. In addition, KPMG offers a comprehensive and competitive Total Rewards program.
