Job description

MMI Engineered Solutions is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Tooling Engineer Intern to support our tooling and manufacturing teams. This role will focus on tooling inventory accuracy, preventive maintenance (PM) planning, and hands-on learning within a fast-paced injection molding environment.

This is a great opportunity for an engineering student looking to gain real-world experience in tooling, machining, and manufacturing processes.


Key Responsibilities
  • Update and maintain tooling storage locations at the Saline facility
  • Verify and track tooling inventory across both Saline and Warren locations
  • Identify critical or high-risk tools requiring preventive maintenance plans
  • Collaborate with Tooling Engineers to develop detailed PM plans
  • Work with IT to input and manage PM plans within the IQMS system
  • Support efforts to ensure tooling accuracy and organization across both plants
Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related field preferred)
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows and general computer skills
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents (preferred)
  • Exposure to 2D/3D CAD and hands-on mechanical experience (preferred, not required)
Work Environment:
  • Hands-on manufacturing-floor environment
  • Exposure to machinery, tooling, and maintenance operations
  • Standing and walking for extended periods in areas that may be hot, noisy, or dusty
  • Commitment to safety and MIOSHA standards
