Function / Position Summary
To teach, support, assess, and oversee high-quality work-based learning experiences aligned to student career pathways during the summer.
Job Duties / Responsibilities
  • Provide instruction, supervision, assessment, and support for high-quality work-based learning and internship experiences aligned to Perkins V and CCPE requirements.
  • Meet with students on a regular basis (at least weekly) to monitor progress, assess performance, and support successful completion of WBL experiences.
  • Plan and implement a program of study aligned to district guidelines, Perkins V indicators, and approved College & Career Pathways.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of internship hours, learning outcomes, and required documentation in compliance with district, state, and federal requirements.
  • Implement assessments of student learning and workplace competencies and communicate progress as required.
  • Conduct a minimum of one site visit per internship placement to monitor student performance and learning conditions.
  • Collaborate with business and industry partners to ensure meaningful, standards-aligned work-based learning experiences.
  • Work collaboratively with the Alignment Collaborative for Education (ACE), EFE 110, and other partners to support pathway quality and compliance.
  • Implement research-based instructional strategies that engage students and support diverse learning needs.
  • Establish and maintain clear expectations for student achievement, professionalism, and workplace behavior.
  • Create and maintain a learning environment that supports student growth through effective communication and feedback.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, students, and families as required to support student success.
  • Support school and district improvement initiatives related to career pathways, WBL, and CCPE implementation.
  • Work cooperatively with administrators to reflect on instructional practice and improve program effectiveness.
  • Work with other internship teachers to plan for two days of training with students, before the program begins. Dates to be set once everyone is hired.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Postsecondary Success or designee.

Education
  • Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with work-based learning designation.
  • Teaching experience is preferred but not necessary for hiring.

Experience / Knowledge
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of Perkin V, College and Career Pathway Endorsements, and Work-based Learning requirements.
  • Must exhibit willingness and capacity to use all forms of current instructional technology.

Physical Demands
  • Requires prolonged sitting or standing.
  • Requires the ability to travel to various locations to view
  • Occasionally requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push objects

or materials up to 30 lbs. with proper technique.
Terms of Employment
This is a temporary position. Salary and benefits as established by the Board of Education. U-46
reserves the right to terminate the position by the third day of student attendance if a minimum
number of students do not register or enroll.
Summer school occurs Monday through Friday with no school on June 19, 2026 to celebrate the Juneteenth holiday. Staff must be available on all days during the summer school sessions.
Professional Learning (w/ students): 05/27/2026 - 05/28/2026
Dates: 06/01/2026 - 07/01/2026 (Monday-Thursday, occasional Fridays if agreed upon ahead of time. Some internships will carry beyond the 7/1/2026 posted end time. All teachers will be properly compensated for additional time as necessary)
Staff hours: Vary based on the needs of the students and internship sites.
Student School day: Vary based on the needs of the internship site.
