Job description

Summer Camp Nurse (RN or LPN)
College Settlement Camp is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our experienced and supportive camp health team for the summer season. This is a rewarding opportunity to step into a role that is very similar to school nursing - focused on basic first aid, daily medication administration, and routine health support - in a joyful, outdoor camp setting.
We are hiring for both day positions and residential (live-in) positions
About the Role
Camp nursing is steady, purposeful, and people-centered. Most days involve routine care: administering scheduled medications, managing minor injuries, supporting campers with health needs, and keeping clear, organized records. You'll work as part of a strong medical team, including other nurses, nurse assistants, and camp leadership.
Our health team plays a vital role in helping campers feel safe, supported, and ready to enjoy their day - whether that means sports, crafts, swimming, biking, or special camp events.
This position is ideal for nurses who enjoy working with children, appreciate structure and routine, and want a summer role that is low-acuity, collaborative, and deeply meaningful.
Key Responsibilities
  • Orient program staff to camper vital health information before each session
  • Screen campers at session check-in (every 2 weeks)
  • Provide basic first aid to campers and staff
  • Administer daily and as-needed medications (per standing orders)
  • Respond to medical concerns and emergencies
  • Complete incident and accident documentation
  • Coordinate off-site medical care when needed
  • Follow current CDC and camp health protocols
Schedule & Work Environment
  • Flexible coverage, including some evenings and weekends
  • Live-in housing and meals available for overnight roles
Why Nurses Love This Role
  • Supportive, team-based work environment
  • Predictable, school-nurse-style responsibilities
  • Beautiful 235-acre outdoor setting
  • Opportunity to build meaningful relationships with campers and staff
  • Strong administrative and clinical support
  • Inclusive, mission-driven community
About College Settlement Camp
College Settlement is a nonprofit camp with over 100 years of summer programming and nearly 50 years of outdoor education. Our programs are intentionally inclusive and financially accessible, serving children from diverse backgrounds. We believe all kids deserve a safe place to grow, build confidence, and experience joy - and our staff make that possible.
Benefits
  • Housing and meals provided for overnight staff
  • Excellent resume-building experience
  • Culturally diverse and inclusive workplace
  • College internship or academic credit opportunities
  • Flexible dates and schedules
