SUMMER CAMP UNIT SUPERVISOR
Bring the Energy. Lead the Fun. Make the Summer Unforgettable.
At Alper JCC Miami, summer is more than camp. It is friendships, traditions, laughter, growth, and memories that last forever. We are looking for a passionate, energetic, and organized leader to join our Summer Camp Leadership Team as a Summer Camp Unit Supervisor.
If you thrive in fast paced environments, love working with kids and staff, know how to lead with positivity, and can bring the RUACH every single day, we want you on our team.
This is not a desk job.
This is a leadership role where you will be in the action, cheering during color wars, supporting staff, solving problems on the fly, connecting with families, helping campers succeed, and creating an incredible camp experience from the first day to the last.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Leadership & Team Management:
  • Supervise and support a team of counselors and camp staff.
  • Lead with positivity, professionalism, accountability, and enthusiasm.
  • Coach staff through challenges and help them grow throughout the summer.
  • Ensure staff schedules, breaks, and responsibilities are properly managed.
  • Help create a strong team culture where everyone feels supported.
Camper Experience:
  • Build meaningful relationships with campers and families.
  • Ensure campers feel included, engaged, and excited every day.
  • Help manage behaviors with patience, consistency, and leadership.
  • Jump into activities, events, trips, songs, cheers, and special programs.
  • Create an environment filled with camp spirit, excitement, and belonging.
Operations & Problem Solving:
  • Oversee the daily operations of your camp unit.
  • Adjust schedules and programming as needed due to weather or group needs.
  • Help solve problems quickly and calmly throughout the day.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and camp leadership.
  • Ensure all safety, licensing, and operational procedures are followed.
Camp Leadership:
  • Assist with staff orientation, training, and camp preparation.
  • Participate in leadership meetings and camp planning throughout the year.
  • Support camp wide events, kickoff programs, and special activities.
  • Serve as an ambassador for the Youth Department and Alper JCC Miami.
REQUIRED SUMMER DATES:
  • Staff Training: June 8 to June 12, 2026
  • Camp Dates: June 15 to July 31, 2026
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
We're looking for leaders who can balance organization, responsibility, flexibility, and fun.
You'd Be a Great Fit If You:
  • Have leadership experience working with children and staff.
  • Bring high energy and a positive attitude every day.
  • Stay calm under pressure and think on your feet.
  • Are organized, dependable, and solution oriented.
  • Can communicate confidently with staff, parents, and leadership.
  • Love working as part of a team.
  • Aren't afraid to jump in wherever needed.
  • Can lead activities one minute and solve operational issues the next.
  • Believe camp should be magical for every child.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Previous camp leadership experience required.
  • Minimum of 3 years working in a camp or youth program environment preferred.
  • College degree preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Comfortable leading both small and large groups.
  • Experience with CampMinder is a plus.
  • Flexible schedule, including occasional evenings as needed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This role is active and hands on. Team members should be comfortable:
  • Walking throughout campus all day.
  • Spending time outdoors in heat and rain.
  • Lifting and moving equipment, tables, and chairs.
  • Standing for extended periods.
  • Participating in camp activities and events.
  • Bending, lifting, squatting, and moving quickly when needed.
WHY YOU'LL LOVE THIS JOB:
  • Every day is different.
  • You'll make a real impact on children and staff.
