Position Summary
The University of New Mexico School of
Medicine Neurology Department seeks an epileptologist
to join our
neurology team in an open rank, clinician educator track position, who is
dedicated to clinical care and building a robust clinical practice. You will be part of a team of faculty who
provide high quality epilepsy care in inpatient and outpatient settings at UNM
Hospital (UNMH).
UNMH has the only NAEC level 4
accredited Comprehensive Epilepsy Center in the state. We have the only epilepsy surgery program,
epilepsy monitoring unit, neuromodulation program, and ICU video EEG monitoring
program in New Mexico. Our
epileptologists work with a multidisciplinary team including a functional
neurosurgeon with expertise in epilepsy surgery and dbs, neuropsychologists,
learners, and APPs.
Clinical responsibilities include
outpatient epilepsy clinic, inpatient EMU coverage and reading of both
inpatient and outpatient adult EEGs.
Academic responsibilities include
participation in the teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows and
research activities of the department.
The successful candidate is a dedicated
educator and clinician who has excellent communications skills and the ability
to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams.

sunsets, numerous cultural and historic sites, lakes, rivers, deserts and

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MD degree or equivalent
  • Board certified/eligible in neurology
  • Completed adult neurology residency
    training prior to start date
  • Completed an epilepsy or neurophysiology
    fellowship prior to start date
  • Eligible for medical license in the
    state of New Mexico
  • Eligible to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 years of clinical experience managing
    epilepsy patients
  • A demonstrated commitment to cultivate
    an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the
    success of the University's mission to serve local and global communities.
