The Opportunity
The College of Business (COB) at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Worldwide (ERAU-W) is seeking a Full Time Tenure-Track Faculty to join the COB and Department of Business Administration as Assistant/Associate Professor in Aviation Strategic Management
This is a remote position and will require an at home office. The successful candidate will teach graduate and undergraduate strategic management courses. The typical teaching load is 24 credit hours per academic year, which extends from 1 August to 31 May. Faculty will teach with innovative academic technologies and delivery platforms almost entirely online. Courses reside within the College of Business and have a strong business and commercial aviation focus.
Responsibilities:
  • Teach corporate strategy courses with a strong commercial aviation sector focus
  • Develop, maintain, and assess courses, particularly those that feature on MBAA, MBA and M.S. aviation-related degree programs
  • Develop and update curricula as needed
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching, staying current in the profession, and providing service to the department, college, university, and profession
  • Limited travel for meetings and conferences may be required (approximately 5-10%)

About the College of Business
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) is the world's largest, fully accredited university specializing in aviation, aerospace, and related fields. ERAU is a nonprofit, independent institution offering more than 80 baccalaureate, master's, and Ph.D. degree programs. The Worldwide campus has an enrollment of over 20,500 students. Courses are delivered online via Canvas, synchronously via Zoom, and face-to-face around the globe in the United States, Europe, Asia, South America, and the Middle East. The Worldwide College of Business is a highly entrepreneurial organization with a broad reach in the aviation industry. COB values and supports activities that are directed at solving business challenges, especially in the broader aviation sector. The college offers two Associate's Degrees (Aviation Business Administration and Technical Management), five Bachelor's degrees (Aviation Business Administration, Business Analytics, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Project Management and Technical Management), and nine Master's degrees (Business Administration in Aviation, M.S. in Airline Management, M.S. in Airport and Air Mobility Management, Engineering Management, Leadership, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Management, Management Information Systems, and Project Management). Virtually all COB programs have industry affiliations, including with ISM, PMI, SAP, SAS, ASEM, RAeS and others.
Departments in the COB are Business Administration, Decision Sciences and Analytics, and Management. The successful candidate would sit in the Department of Business Administration.
The Department of Business Administration (DBA) houses the Associate and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Master of Business Administration, Master of Business Administration in Aviation and a Master of Business Administration in Aviation in partnership with the International Air Transport Association (IATA). There are also exciting plans in the Department to launch a new M.S in Aviation Business Risk Management.

Qualifications
Required Education and Qualifications:
  • A doctorate from an accredited institution is preferred (at Associate level a terminal degree is required). Preferred candidates will also have aviation industry experience in broader corporate strategy and management areas of a commercial aviation business. The candidate should show excellence in teaching and demonstrate strong research potential/pipeline at the Assistant level and through publications and an ongoing pipeline at Associate Professor level that would include working papers or papers under review. Candidates must also have excellent teaching evaluations in related fields
  • Experience teaching web-based courses, participation in university committees or related community organizations, participation in state/national professional organizations showing industry experience, past successful professional experiences with groups from diverse backgrounds
  • Strong written and communication skills
  • A clearly defined teaching philosophy
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and mentor students from diverse backgrounds in a remote setting
  • Willingness to travel as necessary for the position (approximately 5-10%)
  • Experience in course design and development for online course delivery is preferred
  • Experience with online learning management systems is preferred
