Position Summary
The Speech & Hearing Sciencesdepartment at the University of New Mexico (UNM) anticipates hiring AdjunctFaculty to teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in the Fall 2026, Spring2027, and/or Summer 2027 Semesters.
Anticipated openings will be for Adjuncts who can teachcourses in a broad range of subject areas, including but not limited to thesubject areas covered in the following UNM courses:
- SHS 302: Introduction to Communication Disorders
- SHS 430: Child language development
- SHS 431: Child language disorders
- Hearing Science
- SHS 310: Anatomy & Physiology

The Speech & Hearing Sciences department is seekingqualified temporary part time faculty members to teach undergraduate and/or graduatelevel classes in various disciplines as specified above. Instructors areresponsible for all aspects of any class they are teaching. Responsibilitieswill include but not be limited to meeting with the class during assignedtimes, delivering the course curriculum, developing and grading assignments,reporting grades, and assessing student learning outcomes as outlined by the Chairof the department.
Positions are contingent upon need each semesteras determined by student enrollment levels, courses on the current courseschedule, and demand driven by graduation requirements. Positions may befilled or eliminated each semester up to the deadline for students to drop oradd courses. Candidates who are selected for these positions will reportto the Chair of the Speech & Hearing Sciences department

Qualifications
List both the minimum and preferred qualifications within this text box.
Minimum Qualifications: The minimum qualifications must be consistent with Higher Learning Commission standards and compliant with the faculty hiring guidelines.
- Master's Degree or higher in Speech and Hearing Sciences or subfield for which you are applying;
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified SLP through ASHA
- Two years professional experience in the specialization or subfield
- An earned doctorate from an accredited institution
- Successful teaching experience in a post-secondary institution
- Successful experience teaching courses using a variety of teaching modalities (such as Face-to-Face, Remote, and Fully Online)
- A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university's mission to serve local and global communities.
