Job description

The Summer Discovery Program Paraprofessional (contract position) supports teachers and staff in delivering instructional and behavioral support to students. This role assists in creating a positive learning environment, reinforces lesson plans, and provides individualized or small-group support to help students succeed academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist teachers with classroom instruction and daily activities
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students
  • Reinforce lessons and help students understand concepts
  • Support students with special needs, including behavioral or physical assistance
  • Monitor student behavior and help maintain a safe, structured classroom environment
  • Assist with classroom management and organization
  • Prepare instructional materials and classroom resources
  • Supervise students during lunch, recess, field trips, and transitions
  • Track student progress and report observations to the teacher
  • Support students with personal care tasks if required (depending on role)

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (associate’s degree preferred)
