Director of Adult Formation and Belonging
Walsh Jesuit High School is seeking a Director of Adult Formation and Belonging to lead and coordinate comprehensive faith formation, mission integration, and community-building initiatives for employees, full and part-time coaches, parents, alumni, and other adult members of the extended Walsh Jesuit community. This position plays a vital role in sustaining and deepening the school's Catholic identity and Ignatian character while fostering a culture of belonging, accompaniment, and growth.
The Director of Adult Formation and Belonging reports to the Vice President for Mission and Identity and leads a team of 3 4 full and part-time professionals to help form our adults in the dimensions of faith, justice, and belonging. This position partners directly with the Director of Student Formation and Belonging, who together with the Vice President for Mission and Identity constitute the core mission management team. As such, the mission directors function analogously to, and collaborate directly with, assistant principals, advancement directors, athletic administrators and others who have both managerial and operational roles.
The work schedule for this 10+ month position generally mirrors the academic calendar for the school with the expectation that the director will also work approximately 15 days each summer (including one additional week at the beginning and the conclusion of the summer break).
Major Responsibilities
  1. Adult Spiritual Formation
    1. Co-create and implement a comprehensive and ongoing orientation to the mission work of our Jesuit school, which would include an opportunity for all employees to experience Catholic and Ignatian catechism, training in restorative justice and practices, and exposure to programs designed to strengthen community through shared experiences of Catholic teaching and the Jesuit's Universal Apostolic Preferences.
    2. Actively support the school's efforts to hire for mission
    3. Identify and implement a restorative practices methodology for the adult members of our community to shape culture and promote belonging
    4. Develop, lead, and help coordinate adult spirituality initiatives including the annual faculty/staff retreat, Christian Life Communities and programming for employees, parents, and alumni.
  2. Team Leadership
    1. Supervise and mentor a team of 1 full and 2-3 part-time professionals in the areas of faith, justice, belonging
      1. Coordinator of Adult Formation (Full-time) Develop spirituality programming and pastoral outreach (faith sharing groups, spiritual direction, design and implementation of the annual faculty/staff retreat) for the adult members of our community as well as to promote culture and belonging through the training of our adults in the implementation of restorative practices.
      2. Coordinator of Ignatian Formation for Adults (Part-time) Orient new employees to the mission of the school and to help form them in the areas of Ignatian culture, spirituality and Christian service.
      3. Coordinator of Formation for Coaches (Cross and Crown Program) (Part-time) Advance a comprehensive program of faith formation for our coaches and co-curricular moderators
    2. Manage all aspects, including recruitment and supervision of the Alumni Volunteer & Discernment Program
  3. Mission Integration
    1. Collaborate actively with Director of Student Formation and Belonging and with personnel across the school to integrate mission into the life of the school.
    2. Implement school-wide mission initiatives and events; especially those serving the adult community.
    3. Liaise with parents, guardians, and adult leaders of sponsored groups (i.e.: Mothers' Club, Parents Across Cultures, Athletic Boosters, Performing & Fine Arts Boosters etc..).
  4. Ministry of Presence
    1. Embrace, display, and support Ignatian, Catholic, Gospel values in professional and personal conduct
    2. Regular participation in Ignatian formation activities including the school's formal formation program, school liturgies, retreats, and other activities/events as scheduled
    3. Accompany adults and students on at least one experience in each area of formation (retreat, mission trip, belonging initiative) annually

Core Qualifications
  • Practicing Catholic with a deep commitment to Church teaching and Ignatian spirituality
  • Master's degree in theology, religious education, pastoral ministry, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 10 years of professional leadership or administrative experience, preferably in a Catholic secondary school or similar faith-based setting
  • Demonstrated experience supervising staff and managing complex programs
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
  • Strong ability to collaborate, mentor, and lead with empathy and professionalism
  • Commitment to Jesuit values, faith-based adult formation, and inclusive community-building
