Essential Duties
The essential duties of Consultants will be assist students with writing-related issues. This may be in person as well as online.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants should be at least a sophomore in standing. Applicants should have passed both Comp I and II with at least a B in each course, but preference will be for an A in each course. Applicants are expected to have a minimum GPA of 2.5. Preference will also be given to applicants who are familiar with both MLA and APA documentation.
Job Description Summary
Writing Center Consultants will primarily work six hours a week (two three-hour shifts) in the Writing Center located in Painter Hall. During that time, consultants will assist walk-in students who might need help with essays and other papers. Consultants might help with grammar, development, documentation, and other writing-related issues. When not addressing students in person, consultants will also be expected to respond to any online submissions regarding the same writing-related problems.
Hours of Availability
The Writing Center is typically open from 10 AM to 5 PM on Monday through Thursday and 10 AM to Noon on Friday.
