Position Summary: Performs related duties of a teacher to provide continuity in the day-to-day student experience during the absence of the regular teacher. A substitute teacher is employed on an on-call, as needed, day-to-day basis. There are no benefits associated with substitute employment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages classroom and provides instruction according to plans as prepared by the faculty.
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and objectives as indicated in the lesson plans for the lessons, units, or projects assigned.
  • Maintains a neat and orderly classroom.
  • Takes attendance in accordance with school procedures.
  • Knows emergency evacuation routes for the classrooms assigned.
  • Contact Institutional Leadership Team member, academic chair, or faculty member for assistance with emergencies or situations beyond scope of position.
  • Knows applicable school procedures.
  • Provides written information to absent teacher about students, lessons, and activities while away.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by academic chair.
