Job description

Salary: $25-$35/hr

Trinity Social Services is seeking a Substance Abuse/Addiction Counselor. As a Trinity substance/addiction counselor, this individual will provide case management and crisis interventions with individuals. Provide direct care in a recovery focused environment. Provide substance abuse counseling, assessment, and treatment planning. This position will provide the individual and group counseling within outpatient treatment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's (Preferred)
  • Professional Certification in Alcohol and Drug Counseling (CACII, CADCII, MAC, CCADC, CAS, or CACI with Addiction Counselor Trainee with supervision). Credentialed in State of GA.
  • Masters in Counseling, Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family or Social Services Field
  • Must have a passion for encouraging and empowering individuals and families!
  • Addiction Counseling: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Substance Abuse Counseling: 2 years

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for development of the treatment plan for each individual
  • Responsible for completing Behavioral Assessments.
  • Responsible conducting individual and group counseling, family counseling, SA Evaluations, and case/treatment reviews.
  • Responsible for current record keeping, timely entering notes into electronic medical record, and participation in treatment team.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, staff, community partners and others by both phone and in person.
  • Compliance with all guidelines for county and state contracts and all legal/ethical standards.
  • Facilitate group counseling utilizing evidence-based programs / manuals.
  • Create treatment and relapse prevention plans based on clinical experience, individual/family interviews, treatment needs, and evidence-based practices.
  • Review and evaluate progress towards recovery goals identified and determine readiness for step down, discharge and aftercare.
  • May provide crisis intervention services as needed.
  • Provide status reports (i.e. attendance, drug screens, participation level, progress towards goals) on a biweekly basis to referral source or agency mandate.

Required Competencies:

  • An effective communicator with strong oral, written skills and capability to deal with all facets of people.
  • Accurately utilize computer software for individualized, accurate, and timely documentation.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • High level of attention to detail and the ability to multitask.
