Job description

Resident Care Director (RN / LPN)

Job Type: Full-Time
Location:

Join the Arbors/Ivy Team

At Arbors/Ivy, care is personal. We are family-oriented and committed to family-centered aging through generations. We lead with integrity through care, compassion, and teamwork. We believe in collective ownership โ€” standing together and doing whatever it takes to deliver excellence for every resident and every family.

We are seeking a Resident Care Director who believes that details matter. Because in senior living โ€” they do.

About the Role

This is not a โ€œcheck-the-boxโ€ leadership role.

As Resident Care Director, you are the clinical standard-setter. The tone-setter. The follow-through leader.

You are relentlessly attentive to detail. You believe systems exist for a reason. You hold yourself โ€” and your team โ€” to high standards. You understand that while every team member is different in personality and style, the standard of care cannot vary. Things cannot get missed.

You are friendly, approachable, and cheerful โ€” but clear.
Supportive โ€” but firm.
Compassionate โ€” but uncompromising when it comes to resident safety and compliance.

No two days look alike. Interruptions happen. Families call. Providers arrive. A resident needs immediate attention. You handle distractions with urgency and composure โ€” and then return to the details to ensure nothing falls through the cracks.

You follow established processes โ€” and when improvement is needed, you elevate it thoughtfully and within regulatory guidelines.

What Youโ€™ll Be Responsible For
  • Ensuring exceptional quality of resident care through clear standards, monitoring, and accountability
  • Overseeing the entire medication delivery system with precision and consistency
  • Conducting initial and ongoing resident assessments with accuracy and clinical insight
  • Evaluating medical concerns and coordinating care with providers and ancillary services
  • Interpreting policies and regulations for nursing staff โ€” ensuring full compliance
  • Supervising Resident Care Aides (RCAs) with clear expectations and consistent follow-up
  • Providing hands-on competency training with return demonstrations
  • Leading recruitment, onboarding, and in-service education for the nursing team
  • Serving as a trusted liaison to families, healthcare agencies, hospitals, and emergency teams
  • Handling emergency situations calmly and efficiently
  • Participating in on-call rotation

You create a department where:

  • Documentation is accurate.
  • Medications are correct.
  • Assessments are thorough.
  • Communication is clear.
  • Follow-through is expected.

Who Thrives in This Role

You will excel here if you:

  • Have extremely high attention to detail
  • Hold others accountable while recognizing individual strengths
  • Refuse to let important steps be skipped
  • Move quickly when urgency demands it
  • Stay organized despite constant interruptions
  • Genuinely enjoy seniors and take an interest in their lives
  • Build close, respectful relationships with your nurse team
  • Improve systems carefully โ€” without cutting corners
  • Lead with both compassion and clarity

You believe excellence in care is built on consistency.
