SPENGA Ann Arbor is looking for a motivated Marketing Intern / Grassroots Marketing Coordinator to help grow our local studio presence, generate leads, support member engagement, and build community relationships
This role is ideal for someone who understands marketing fundamentals, enjoys being out in the community, is comfortable using digital marketing tools, and wants hands-on experience building real marketing campaigns for a local fitness brand.
About the Role
The Marketing Intern will support SPENGA's local marketing efforts through grassroots outreach, email and text campaigns, event coordination, lead nurturing, social media support, and performance tracking. This person will work closely with studio management to identify opportunities, measure what is working, and help improve marketing strategies over time.
This is not just a posting-and-flyers role. We are looking for someone who can think strategically, execute consistently, and help us build stronger local awareness in the community.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities may include:
  • Develop and execute grassroots marketing campaigns in the local community
  • Identify, coordinate, and attend local events, pop-ups, partnerships, and community opportunities
  • Build relationships with local businesses, schools, organizations, influencers, and community groups
  • Support email and text campaigns to current members, leads, past members, and cold traffic
  • Help create campaigns to re-engage old leads and former members
  • Track marketing performance metrics and report results to management
  • Work with studio leadership to evaluate campaigns and adjust marketing strategy
  • Support social media campaigns across platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and LinkedIn
  • Assist with content creation, scheduling, posting, and community engagement
  • Help grow and manage a monetized social media page
  • Create and organize marketing materials for events, campaigns, and local outreach
  • Assist with lead generation, lead nurturing, and promotional campaigns
  • Bring new ideas to help increase brand awareness, trial visits, memberships, and community engagement

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Experience with Meta platforms, including Facebook and Instagram
  • Experience with grassroots marketing, community outreach, or local event promotion
  • A basic understanding of marketing fundamentals, including lead generation, customer engagement, campaign tracking, and conversion
  • Strong communication and organization skills
  • Comfort speaking with local businesses, community partners, members, and potential customers
  • Ability to work independently and follow through on projects
  • Creativity and willingness to test new marketing ideas
  • Interest in fitness, wellness, health, or local business marketing
  • Ability to track results and make recommendations based on data

Preferred Experience
Experience with any of the following is a plus:
  • TikTok marketing
