Duties and Responsibilities:
I. Departmental Leadership & Management:
• Supervises and evaluates the performance of staff and activities within the Office of Student Accounts.
• Directs and coordinates Accounts Receivable functions within the Banner System.
• Oversees daily bank deposits and cash receivables, including student accounting and third-party payments.
• Manages the certification of students eligible for tuition and fee exemptions.
• Supervises the certification and financial aspects of Veterans Affairs educational benefits.
• Oversees the registration and fee payment processes.
II. Policy, Compliance & Reporting:
• Assists in the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures.
• Monitors compliance with College, LCTC policies, state laws, and federal regulations.
• Manages the student appeal process, including account updates.
• Prepares, reviews, and submits federal, state, and institutional reports.
• Reviews financial accounting reports for accuracy and timeliness of student account transactions.
• Assists with the preparation of financial statements and compilation of data for internal and external auditors.
• Reconciles general ledger accounts related to student receivables.
III. Student Billing & Collections:
• Collaborates with the Registrar's Office on student fee implementation within the Banner system.
• Prepares monthly student billing statements and runs Banner processes for bookstore credit vouchers.
• Processes student drops for non-payment and coordinates with Transact on tuition and fee payment plans, including reconciliation of student receivables.
• Prepares and issues annual 1098-T statements to students in compliance with IRS regulations.
• Develops and maintains student collection procedures and monitors student account write-offs .
• Works with the Financial Aid Office on refund disbursements and Return of Title IV funds for federal financial aid.
• Coordinates with various departments and the LDCC Foundation for the disbursement of grant dollars and scholarships allocated towards student tuition and books.
• Serves as the liaison for new software training related to student financials and accounts receivable/billing processes.
Required Education: A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field is preferred. Essential qualifications include 3-5 years of experience with accounting and/or financial systems, demonstrating proficiency with Microsoft Excel. Candidates with experience in a higher education environment and familiarity with the Banner system are preferred. Excellent organization and communication skills are a must. The ability to function as both a team member and team leader, engaging in cross-departmental collaboration to fulfill the College's Mission, is essential.
