Position Overview
Starting Salary Range is $85,841.60 - $90,220. The initial salary offer is commensurate with education and related work experience.
The Director of Student Wellbeing provides strategic leadership and administrative oversight for comprehensive student support initiatives that promote student safety, mental health, compliance, and overall wellbeing. This position directs and coordinates services including the CARES Team, Mental Health Services, the Veterans Center, student complaint processes, Title IX education and prevention efforts, and Drug-Free Campus compliance.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
CARES (Concern, Assess, Refer, and Educate for Success) Team
  • Chair and strategically lead the CARES Team, overseeing a cross-campus team of administrators and case managers to assess and respond to student concerns, behavioral threats, and overall student wellbeing.
  • Serve as Lead Case Manager for students referred to the CARES Team, ensuring timely intervention, coordinated support, and appropriate follow-up.
  • Manage referrals of students of concern, schedule and oversee team meetings, create agendas, and maintain Maxient records.
  • Coordinate ongoing training for team members on behavioral intervention, threat assessment, FERPA, and best practices.
  • Maintain and update the CARES Team handbook, protocols, and operating procedures.
  • Prepare and publish an annual CARES Team report, including trend analysis and recommendations.
  • Lead campus-wide engagement and outreach initiatives to increase awareness and appropriate referrals.
Health and Wellbeing Education and Promotion
  • Develop and implement comprehensive health and wellbeing programming in collaboration with campus partners.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with community organizations to expand access to resources and supportive services.
  • Oversee coordination and reservation of campus space for community partners providing student services.
  • Lead strategic initiatives that promote prevention, resilience, and student success.
Mental Health Services
  • Provide administrative oversight and supervision of campus mental health services, including direct supervision of the mental health therapist.
  • Manage and evaluate the college's partnership with telehealth provider (e.g., TimelyCare), ensuring accessibility, utilization, and service effectiveness.
  • Oversee marketing, outreach, and awareness efforts related to mental health services.
  • Monitor service utilization data and recommend improvements to expand access and reduce barriers to care.
Student Complaints
  • Oversee and facilitate the student complaint process, including intake, triage, coordination with faculty and staff, and documentation of resolutions.
  • Ensure timely and policy-aligned resolution of student complaints.
  • Coordinate training for employees involved in complaint resolution to ensure procedural consistency and compliance.
  • Monitor trends in complaints and recommend policy or procedural improvements as needed.
Title IX Deputy Coordinator
  • Serve as Deputy Title IX Coordinator with a primary focus on education, prevention, and awareness initiatives.
  • Provide operational and process support in the absence of the Title IX Coordinator.
  • Chair the Campus SAVE Committee, leading policy review, compliance efforts, and campus awareness initiatives related to sexual harassment, sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking.
  • Support training initiatives to ensure compliance with federal and state Title IX regulations.
Veteran's Center
  • Provide leadership and supervision to the Veterans Center, ensuring accurate processing of educational benefits and delivery of academic and career advising to veterans and their families.
  • Advance programming and engagement initiatives that foster belonging and community among military-connected students.
  • Ensure compliance with VA regulations and reporting requirements.
Drug Free Campus Initiative
  • Chair the Drug-Free Campus Committee, leading prevention, education, and response efforts related to alcohol and other drug use.
  • Oversee annual required notifications of the Drug-Free Campus Policy.
  • Prepare and publish the Biennial Review in compliance with the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act.
  • Serve as advisor to peer-led student organizations focused on alcohol, tobacco, and other drug education and prevention.

Additional Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide supervision and performance management for full-time professional staff.
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets; monitor expenditures and ensure fiscal responsibility.
  • Serve as a college administrator for Maxient, providing guidance on incident reporting, case management configuration, and analytics reporting.
  • Serve as the institution's designated Foster Care Liaison, providing support and resources to students formerly in conservatorship in the State of Texas.
  • Communicate and interpret college policies related to student development and wellbeing to students, faculty, staff, and community stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the mission of Student Affairs and the college.

Minimum Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution in Social Work, Psychology, or closely related field or a Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution in Higher Education Administration, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Student Affairs, Public Administration, or a closely related field.
  • Three (3) years of administrative experience in postsecondary education in the areas of student services, counseling, mental health, student success, or other related fields.
  • Three (3) years of professional experience, clinical or non-clinical, in supporting individuals with mental health concerns.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships and partnerships.
  • Impeccable reputation with regard to ethics and integrity.
  • Exceptional time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills with the Microsoft Office suite, student information systems, and case management software.
  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
