Job Title: Student Worker - Concert Photographer & Videographer

Pay Rate: $10.00/hour
Job Description:
The School of Music is looking for up to three enthusiastic students to assist in capturing our ensemble concerts and opera performances through dynamic, high-quality photography and videography. Ideal for: Film and media students, visual storytellers, aspiring event photographers/videographers, and portfolio builders. These high-quality assets will be used for our website, print materials, signage, social media, etc. and a variety of close-up and distant shots are essential. Someone familiar with music performance is preferred to understand proper etiquette when capturing live performances in a non-disruptive manner.
Logistics:
  • Most concerts/performances occur at 7:30 p.m. in the evenings on campus and at 3 p.m. on weekends, usually no longer than two hours in length. All Photography/Videography student workers will be able to sign up for the concerts that they are available to capture on a first come/first serve basis. Sony camera equipment is provided for our students, but we will also need phone videos taken for more immediate use on social media. Technical knowledge and proper care of camera equipment are crucial, as well as the ability to physically carry equipment by yourself, including tripods. Photos and videos must be processed from raw format using Adobe Creative Suite (free for all students), and student workers should feel comfortable and confident editing/processing themselves.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Attend assigned School of Music ensemble and opera events and capture both photo and video content with cameras and mobile phone.
  • Compose and deliver shots that reflect the energy and artistry of each event
  • Follow creative direction and shot lists provided by the School of Music Marketing and Communications Team, while bringing your own creativity to the table.
  • Edit photos and videos
  • Experience with photo/video-editing software.
  • Organize content into shared Box folders, with clear file names based on the event.
  • Deliver mobile phone video footage within 24 hours of the event.
  • Deliver edited photos within 1 week of event. Videos preferred to meet this deadline as well but can be determined on a case-by-case basis dependent on the need and student availability.
  • Exhibit a willingness to take initiative and work independently and collaboratively
  • Must communicate early and often about any changes in availability and deadlines for content delivery
  • Ability to comply with University policies
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance
