Broughal Middle School is seeking a reliable and professional Hall Monitor to support a safe and orderly school environment. The successful candidate will maintain a visible presence throughout the building, assist with student supervision, and support administrative procedures related to school safety and daily operations. This role is essential in fostering a secure and welcoming atmosphere for students, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate is calm under pressure, attentive to detail, and able to interact positively with a diverse school community while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.
This is a grant-funded, 10-month, full-time, in-person position working Monday through Friday from 7:45 AM to 3:45 PM during the school year (August through June), with no summer work required. Grant funding is available for the 2026-2027 school year. Continued employment beyond the 2026-2027 school year will be dependent upon the availability of future grant funding.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and secure school environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors before, during, and after the school day.
  • Maintain a visible presence and monitor students during lunch periods at locations designated by administration.
  • Be present during the arrival and departure of school buses at assigned locations.
  • Provide support and supervision during large school events, including assemblies, pep rallies, and other functions.
  • Monitor the front desk and ensure all visitors properly sign in using the Visitor Management System.
  • Follow and adhere to daily schedules established by administration, understanding schedules may change as needed.
  • Assist administration with student searches when required.
  • Attend trainings as determined by the Bethlehem Area School District.
  • Provide escort services for students, visitors, and sensitive situations, including medical needs and student hospital transports occurring during the school day.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by administration.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to interact with high school students, faculty, staff, and the public in a professional, calm, and respectful manner.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to remain composed in high-pressure situations.
  • Dependable, observant, and committed to maintaining a safe school environment.

Pay Rate: $21.57 per hour
