Job description

Join a group of passionate advocates on our mission to improve the lives of youth!  Rite of Passage Team is hiring for Group Supervisor at DePaul Academy Residential Facility in South Bend Indiana 

DePaul Academy, located in the heart of South Bend, Indiana, shares a campus with the St. Joseph County Juvenile Justice Center.  DePaul serves young men aged 14-18 who have mental health, substance abuse and/or behavioral needs.  Utilizing a strengths-based approach, DePaul provides its youth with access to therapeutic services and diverse social and educational opportunities.  Through a blend of evidence-based treatment, academic and extracurricular opportunities, young men are provided a normalized setting that foster a culture of learning, growth, and achievement.

Pay: starting at $50,000/year.

What you will do: The Group Supervisor position exercises direct control and direction over subordinate staff as assigned in the safety, care and around -the-clock supervision of students in the program. 

  • Ensures staff and students adheres to the facility and daily schedule, ensures that the facility (unit, cottage, house, room, dorm, etc.) is on time for all elements and the students participate in all of the scheduled activities. 
  • Operates assigned shifts effectively and efficiently while maintaining the proper staff to student ratio for coverage according to licensing standards. 
  • Makes critical and sound decisions during emergencies or potentially dangerous situations, conducts group intervention crisis sessions and informs supervisor of concerns as warranted. 

To be considered you should: Supervisory experience is preferred.  Must possess 1-year direct care experience.  Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.  Be at least 21 years of age.  Have a desire to work with at risk youth.  Be able to pass a criminal background check, physical and TB test.

Schedule: Looking to fill a Day shift (8:30a-9p) Group Supervisor position with a schedule of 12 hours/day but only working 7 days in a 2 week pay period.  This does require you to work every other weekend (Friday-Saturday-Sunday).  Your schedule is set to a 2-week pattern, and it will never change.
