Rate $13.88 per hour
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
LSC Elementary Caf /Recess Supervisors will work directly under the supervision of the building principal or their designee. All LSC Elementary Caf /Recess Supervisors are responsible to supervise and ensure the safety of students during lunch and recess in accordance to guidelines established by LSC and the building principal.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: No requirement
- Must be 18 years or older
- Health: Reasonably good health and able to be outside at all times of the year
- Skills and Abilities:
- Must be able to gain respect of students and supervise students
- Must be able to work co-operatively with staff members
- Dress: Appropriate dress is important for a good role model
- Experience: No requirement.
- Certification and/or License: No requirement
- Must maintain a professional attitude and use appropriate language.
- 95% work attendance required unless excused absence obtained from school. Absences must be called in by 9am daily.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Additional duties and responsibilities may vary by building. Typical responsibilities of a Recess Supervisor include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Provide active supervision of students during recess to ensure a safe, positive, and inclusive playground environment.
- Continuously circulate throughout assigned supervision areas to monitor student safety, encourage positive interactions, and respond promptly to student needs.
- Monitor student behavior and address concerns using district-approved behavior management practices. Communicate significant behavioral concerns, injuries, or incidents to the building administration and classroom teachers as appropriate.
- Build positive, respectful relationships with students while modeling appropriate behavior, sportsmanship, conflict resolution, and respectful communication.
- Know, communicate, and consistently enforce school expectations for student behavior on the playground, in hallways, restrooms, and during transitions to and from recess.
- Supervise students during transitions between the classroom and the playground, ensuring students move safely, orderly, and efficiently.
- Refrain from utilizing disciplinary methods that are punitive in nature and instead implement established building procedures for addressing student behavior.
- Promote student safety by monitoring playground equipment, identifying potential hazards, and reporting unsafe conditions to the appropriate staff member.
- Know, communicate, and implement building emergency procedures and respond appropriately during drills or emergency situations.
- Encourage students to demonstrate good sportsmanship, kindness, cooperation, and inclusion while participating in recess activities.
- Assist students in resolving minor conflicts through positive guidance and problem-solving strategies while seeking administrative support when appropriate.
- Encourage students to practice proper hygiene, including washing their hands before lunch and after using the restroom when applicable.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding students and school matters in accordance with district policies and applicable laws.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal or designee.
