Position Description The WakeWorks Youth Apprenticeship Success Advisor (Success Advisor) will provide academic advising and success coaching services to a cohort of Wake County high school students enrolled in the youth apprenticeship program.

This position will be responsible for developing and updating academic pathway plans and academic success plans with individual cohort students. The position will provide regular and proactive outreach to cohort students, and when necessary, provide proactive interventions and resource referrals, to ensure that students persist and complete degrees and earn job placement. The success advisor will work with faculty, campus staff, and off-campus stakeholders to develop a resource portfolio to ensure that cohort students are successful.

Pay Grade Professional 4 To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential job functions satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the primary job functions herein described. *Provide academic advising and support services to cohort of WakeWorks youth apprenticeship students.

Develop and update academic pathway plans to ensure student persistence and completion. *Develop and update academic success plans with each cohort student. Create a comprehensive caseload management plan and provide regular outreach to cohort students to provide personal and academic coaching.

*Provide proactive interventions with students based on predictive measures, and proactively intervene when students struggle personally or academically. Make necessary campus resource connections and referrals for students, when necessary. *Provide intervention and referral support to faculty advisors who work with cohort students.

*Work with on and off campus partners to develop resources and activities for cohort students. *Lead and support the application and interview process as needed for program participants. *Coordinate communication and student updates as needed with Wake Tech Apprenticeship department, other college stakeholder departments, and Wake County Public School System partners.

*Work in collaboration with leadership on the awarding of program benefits, to include book support, monthly stipends, and college tuition assistance as appropriate. Develop connections across college services in order to facilitate warm handoffs with students who need additional college supports.

Develop connections within high schools of participating students in order to ensure clear communication channels between the college and high schools with regard to program participants. Regularly attend required meetings with project and college staff. Participate in departmental, divisional, and college meetings and professional development as appropriate and assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Excellent organization, project management, communication, and presentation skills. Excellent customer service and coaching skills. Proficient computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office; Colleague/Datatel and Self Service.

Ability to connect with a diverse population of students. Ability to multitask between multiple projects. Must be able to travel to multiple locations and campuses throughout Wake County.

Ability to quickly and accurately calculate data from multiple data sources. Ability to work well with dynamic teams, as well as individually.
