How you'll contribute 

The role of the Student Radiologic Technologist is to perform diagnostic radiographic examinations under the supervision of a Registered Radiologic Technologist using JRCERT guidelines.

What we're looking for 

 High school diploma or equivalent -Required                                                                                                                                                                                               Diploma or Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology (verification from school is required)

Essential Functions:

  • He or she must demonstrate a thorough knowledge of anatomy.
  • Technologists must demonstrate thorough knowledge and skill and understanding of image quality.
  • Must be able to communicate to patients the nature of the tests and relieve their anxiety.
  • Must demonstrate an understanding of Radiographic Positioning, Radiographic Technique, Radiation Safety, Imaging Equipment, Infection Control and Quality Control techniques.
  • Presents pleasant and helpful manners to patients, physicians, subordinates and other members of the department staff.
  • Assist in maintaining a work area free from hazards.
  • The student radiologic technologist must perform routine diagnostic imaging studies, as needed. Must vary work schedule.
  • The patient population ranges from neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.
  • The student radiologic technologist must provide services to all patients, families, and physicians serving this population.
  • Ensures that patient examinations are performed in an accurate and timely manner; not to exceed 30 minutes.
  • Provides accurate patient positioning, computer entries and filming.
  • Maintains effective use of time, reports availability accordingly.
  • Demonstrates a willingness and ability to assist others.
  • Consistently team effort displays. Applies knowledge to produce high quality diagnostic images with use of professional knowledge to meet or exceed department guidelines. Maintains exam accuracy, i.e., minimum views, labeling, patient dose, positioning, patient history and shielding. Minimizes patient exposure.
  • Maintains a safe working environment. Maintains knowledge of equipment performance. Reports malfunctions to supervisor.
  • Conveys to supervisor any problems related to supplies or equipment as well as information pertaining to the problem.
  • Demonstrates the ability to resolve problems.
  • Demonstrates the ability to make sound independent decisions when circumstances so warrant. Demonstrates technical knowledge.
  • Demonstrates the ability to provide patient education relating to diagnostic radiology procedures.
  • Learns and maintains knowledge of current imaging techniques. Identifies methods to improve efficiency and customer relations.
  • Identifies methods to improve diagnostic quality.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. 
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
