Job description

Beloit Health System is looking to add a Student Radiology Technologist to our Team!

  • Shift: Varied
  • Schedule: Hours between 6:30 am – 11:00 pm
  • Hours per week: Varied - PerDiem
  • Benefits Status: Not Eligible
  • Department: Radiology

The Radiology Technologist Student performs x-ray procedures to produce images for the purpose of diagnosing disease processes under the supervision of a licensed Radiologic Technologist until board certified. Procedures can be performed at various locations throughout the Health System. Competence is required for both fixed and mobile x-ray devices.

  • Provides diagnostic radiographic services
    • Greets customers in a friendly, but professional manner o Ensures proper patient and image identification
    • Operates diagnostic imaging equipment under the supervision of a licensed Radiologic Technologist
    • Operates other equipment/devices as appropriate
    • Ensures proper patient positioning
    • Immobilizes patients as necessary
    • Selects and/or calculates exposure factors according to age specific guidelines.
    • Applies principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others
    • Evaluates radiography for technical quality and patient identification.
    • Assumes responsibility for provision of physical and psychological needs of patients during procedures
    • Practices aseptic technique as necessary
    • Administers or assists with administration of contrast media, as required.
    • Assists physician with fluoroscopic and specialized interventional radiography procedures
    • Initiates basic life support procedures for patients if necessary
    • Ensures proper documentation of exam, technical factors, repeat/reject information, quality improvement, etc.
    • Performs quality control checks as required
  • Assists in aspects of patient care including transportation and PACs processing.
  • Detects, reports to supervision, and contacts repair person for equipment malfunctions.
  • Assumes responsibility for portions of department quality assurance and improvement programs
  • Pursues licensure as a Radiologic Technologist.
  • Assumes responsibility for inventory and stocking of supplies for assigned areas

Job Requirements

  • Enrolled in final semester of an AMA accredited School of Radiologic Technology
  • Must become ARRT registered in Radiology and licensed in the state(s) you work within 90 days of graduation
  • Self-motivated
  • Ability to be flexible
  • Ability to problem-solve Institutional commitment
  • Ability to interact well with customers
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • CPR certification within 90 days of hire
  • Reporting Relationship: Clinical Manager of Radiology.
  • Receives clinical assignments from the Charge/Lead Technologist.
  • Clinical advisement is received from the Radiologist.
  • Personal protective equipment required, such as, radiation monitoring film badge, lead aprons, lead glasses, lead gloves, thyroid collars, goggles, gowns, masks, face shields, and CPR mask
  • Must adhere to established Health System and Medical Imaging Department policies, rules, and regulations
  • Maintained ethical conduct and keep confidential personal and medical information about patients
