Job description

Overview

We are seeking a Student Radiology Technologist, internally referred to as our X-ray Tech Student. Student Rad Techs will assist licensed technologists in performing diagnostic imaging procedures by positioning patients, operating equipment such as X-ray, and ensuring radiation safety. They help process and evaluate images using PACS while maintaining accurate medical documentation. Additionally, they provide patient care, collaborate with healthcare teams, and gain hands-on clinical experience to develop their technical skills for a future career in radiologic technology. This position is on a per diem basis, meaning PD/PRN as needed.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

  • Patient Positioning & Preparation: Properly position patients for X-rays and ensure their comfort and safety
  • Performing Imaging Procedures: assist in capturing high-quality diagnostic images under supervision using either X-ray equipment
  • Radiation Safety: follow As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) principles to minimize radiation exposure for patients and staff
  • Equipment Operation & Maintenance: learn to use and maintain radiographic machines and digital imaging systems, such as X-ray machines
  • Image Processing & Evaluation: assist in processing and reviewing images using PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System)
  • Collaboration with Healthcare Teams: work alongside radiologists, nurses, and other medical staff to provide quality diagnostic imaging
Qualifications

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Currently attending an accredited health care educational program for radiologic technology
  • Meet state requirements for exemption from licensing to operate x-ray equipment, documentation of state exemption required in personnel file
  • Completion of their first-year curriculum requirements
  • Current BCLS (AHA)
  • At least one year of clinical experience in the radiology technologist program required

  • Proficient computer skills
