Instructional Student Assistant Employment Opportunity

JOB DESCRIPTION:

***OPEN TO CURRENT STANISLAUS STATE STUDENTS, CURRENTLY ENROLLED OR ELIGIBILE TO ENROLL ONLY***

One graduate student (or advanced undergrad) research assistant to support a project that is examining student engagement and belonging in STEM. The student assistant will collect and analyze quantitative data (student surveys) and qualitative data (interviews and focus groups) for students in a first-year experience course primarily for biology majors. Work will be conducted in close collaboration with Dr. Matthew Cover, professor of biology.

Wage/Salary: $20.00/HR

Hours per Week: 5-10 (up to 40 during winter and summer breaks)

Location: Turlock Campus

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Undergraduate students must be registered/enrolled in a minimum of six (6) Fall/Spring units.
Post-baccalaureate students in a graduate program must be registered in a minimum of four (4) Fall/Spring units.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

A strong interest in STEM education; previous experience with qualitative research and/or mentoring of undergraduate students.

CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CLEARANCE NOTICE

The university requires a criminal and/or child abuse background check to be completed for many of its new employees, current employees seeking promotional or transfer opportunities, and current employees assigned new duties. Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment.
