Job description

SUMMARY

The Associate Campus Pastor reports to and serves alongside the Campus Pastor to help lead, shepherd, and equip the Pinelake Oxford campus. As an extension of the Campus Pastor's office, this role enhances and provides greater span of care and depth in pastoral leadership, team development, and ministry oversight. The core focus is to partner with the campus pastor to ensure the mission, vision, and values of Pinelake Church are carried forward with excellence and faithfulness.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Learn
    • Pursue a growing relationship with Jesus through consistent time in God's Word and prayer.
    • Continually grow in your understanding of the Jesus-Centered Life (salvation, identity, life, and authority in Christ).
    • Remain teachable and hungry, seeking feedback, learning from others, and developing both spiritually and professionally.
    • Cultivate awareness of God's presence in everyday life, listening to the Holy Spirit and responding in obedience.

    SPECIFIC LIST OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Help lead, develop, and care for staff and volunteer teams
    • Provide pastoral leadership through presence, prayer, care, and relational connection
    • Support weekend services and key ministry environments
    • Champion a culture of discipleship, teamwork, and servant leadership
    • Step in to lead ministries or initiatives as needed to support campus health and growth
    • NextGen & Discipleship Oversight
      • Provide direct leadership, coaching, and accountability for the Lead College Pastor, Lead Student Pastor, Kids Pastor, Preschool Minister, and (as assigned) the Adult Groups/Discipleship Pastor
      • Champion a unified discipleship pathway across preschool, kids, students, college, and adult groups to ensure alignment and continuity
    • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with direct reports to provide spiritual care, leadership development, goal alignment, and performance feedback
    • Ensure ministry strategies, calendars, and environments are aligned with Pinelake Church's mission, vision, values, and campus priorities
    • Support, coach, and equip ministry leaders in volunteer recruitment, leader development, and team health
    • Oversee ministry planning, execution, and evaluation for key seasonal initiatives (camps, retreats, conferences, and milestone events)
    • Collaborate with the Campus Pastor to identify leadership development opportunities and succession planning for NextGen and discipleship ministries
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES NEXTGEN, FAMILIES, & DISCIPLESHIP OVERSIGHT

    • Serve as a catalyst and guide in equipping parents to become disciple-makers in their homes. Partner with NextGen families through intentional initiatives and relational engagement to strengthen the family unit and cultivate faithful followers of Jesus who, in turn, make disciples.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Adult Groups and Connections ministry staff as well as all NextGen ministry staff to include preschool, kids, middle school, high school and college.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Proven ministry leadership experience in a local church with comparable context to Pinelake Oxford's size and culture

    • Flexible and dependable to lead and execute key initiatives
    • Focused and aligned with Pinelake Church's mission, vision, and values
    • Spiritually mature, emotionally healthy, and secure enough to lead from the second chair.

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

    Bachelor's degree minimum; Required to be licensed/ordained. Seminary experience is a plus. Eight or more years of related experience and/or training.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    The individual must have excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work with a diverse group of people, communicate clearly and effectively on the telephone, e-mail and in person demonstrating tact and diplomacy. Exceptional interpersonal skills are required to develop and maintain strong working relationships with volunteers, co-workers, the public and church members and regular attendees. The individual must have the ability to understand written or oral instructions; read, analyze and interpret complex documents, instructions manuals, policies and procedures is essential.

    COMPUTER AND MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    The individual must have demonstrated skill in the use of Windows/MacOS to complete tasks, including word processing and spreadsheets and the ability to use the internet for information retrieval. The individual must have basic mathematical skills, knowledge of bookkeeping and basic accounting, and budget and expense monitoring. The individual must have the ability to read financial information and spreadsheets.

    REASONING ABILITY

    The individual must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries; simultaneous conceptualization and planning of multiple tasks, ability to project outcomes using different implementation strategies and ability to apply creative and innovative thinking to problem situations; and solve practical problems. The ability to work effectively and efficiently under stressful conditions to ensure deadlines are met is essential.
