Job description

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care in the provision of routine hygienic, nutritional, and comfort needs of patients such as, but not limited to: bathing, distributing fluids and nourishments, feeding, ambulating, changing bed linens, oral care, grooming, shampooing hair, toileting, etc.
  • Perform basic nursing support tasks such as but not limited to: obtaining vital signs, answering call lights, transporting (i.e. patients, specimens, etc.), assisting with patient transfers, and range of motion.
  • May assist with keeping patient rooms clean and orderly as well as provide observation as a sitter when needed.
  • May receive and screen visitors and telephone calls and handle general inquiries. Files, distributes mail and performs other clerical duties as assigned. Types various reports and documents for unit staff. Photocopies and distributes and/or files as necessary.
  • Communicate clearly with patients, families, physicians and other healthcare team members in person, telephone, and/or email.
  • Assist with the maintenance of supplies and equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements

  • Minimum: High School diploma or equivalent and current, active enrollment in an accredited ASN or BSN program and completed one semester of clinicals.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum: Completion of one semester of clinicals
  • Preferred: One year experience in a hospital setting

License/Certification Requirements

  • Minimum: Basic Life Safety (American Heart Association)
