Job description

The Student Director at Riverview Church is a key position that provides pastoral leadership, vision, and oversight for middle school and high school student ministries across all venues. The core mission of this role is to nurture spiritual growth, encourage student ownership, and create dynamic, Christ-centered environments by fostering a culture of relational disciple-making. The Director is responsible for leading and equipping staff and volunteer leaders through regular coaching and training, ensuring student ministries consistently align with Riverview’s mission, values, and theology. Key responsibilities also include planning and executing impactful events and retreats, managing the student ministry budget, and building strong, intentional relationships with students outside of scheduled church programming.

The position is situated in the Lansing, MI, area, which is known as Michigan’s second most diverse county, attracting a mix of singles, families, students, and professionals. Lansing has evolved into a predominantly white-collar community where a younger generation embraces a “Love Lansing” attitude and actively participates in civic life. As the state capital, Lansing is undergoing significant downtown development and provides easy access to the Great Lakes region, perfect for outdoor activities like hunting, fishing, and hiking. The community is further enriched by the presence of Michigan State University, which provides vibrant collegiate sports and art events. Riverview Church is deeply committed to being an active and engaged presence within this culturally diverse area.

The Student Director must possess a missional mindset, focusing on outreach and community impact while cultivating a healthy, unified, and mission-focused leadership culture.
