Title of Job Position: Pastor/Director of Student Formation (Full-Time)

Job Description:
The Pastor/Director of Student Formation at York Alliance Church (YAC) is responsible for coming alongside parents and guardians to assist in developing students from 6-12 grade to grow into mature and passionate disciples of Jesus. This includes developing a long-term vision for the ministry, leading and developing an adult leadership team, and educating students in God's Word.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Develop, lead and implement a vision for Student Ministries that coincides with the vision for YAC.
  • Teach/educate students on God's Word.
  • Develop ambassadors for Christ through local and global mission trips.
  • Develop an adult leadership team and empower them to lead. Recruit new leaders as necessary.
  • Develop student leaders. Utilize student leaders within the ministry as a leadership development tool.
  • Maintain effective communications with all parents and the congregation on the status of Student Ministries.
  • Maintain a student safety program that includes background checks, safety policies, etc.
  • Manage student resources and ensure proper care of the facility used by all students.
  • Maintain an assimilation path for new students at YAC.
  • Develop and implement a discipleship path for YAC Jr/Sr High students that spans the 7 years that they are in the ministry.
  • Function as a member of the YAC staff participating with the team in overseeing all aspects of ministry.
  • Assist in the development of an annual departmental budget and manage spending to budget.
  • Establish a Sabbath day and be held accountable to it.
  • Maintain a healthy balance between family life, ministry and other responsibilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience working with students in some type of ministry role.
  • A strong sense of calling by God to minister to students.
  • A student ministry degree is preferable but not required.
  • Some work experience in the secular marketplace is preferred.
  • Strong leader with a solid work ethic and the ability to administer as a department head.
  • Possess a passion for developing students into followers of Jesus.
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively.

Church Size: Regular weekly attendance is between 400-500, with roughly 800 calling YAC their church home. York Alliance is the anchor campus in the York Alliance Family of Churches, which is currently four campuses.
Church History: YAC began in 1932 and has remained a significant Kingdom presence in York since that time. After residing at several different locations, the church building has, for the last 60+ years, been on Rathton Rd. on the southern border of the city of York, located between two colleges (Penn State York and York College) and just down the street from the York (Wellspan) Hospital.
Church Vision: YAC's mission is "All of Jesus for the Whole Person to the Whole World." Their vision is to pursue the transformational love of Jesus by building communities that share His love with all people. They believe disciples are those who called to be with Jesus, become like Jesus, and do what Jesus did.
Church Ministry Style: YAC engages community and formation in two primary modes-around a stage and around a table. Sunday gatherings are upbeat and engaging, blending both newer and ancient worship styles and tools. They have biblically rich, conversational style teaching and weekly opportunities to respond to the Spirit of God. Community Groups are the primary vehicle for transformation, meeting weekly in homes around the York community.
