Description
The Library Assistant is a staff member at Richmont Graduate University and serves faculty and students through supporting the day-to-day operations of the Atlanta Library. The Library Assistant serves on campus at the Atlanta location.
Responsibilities:
โ€ข Assists in the day-to-day maintenance of the Atlanta Library through cataloging, curating, weeding, organizing, loaning, and re-shelving of local resources. Keeps collections and physical spaces tidy and well-organized.
โ€ข Provides excellent service to both students and faculty. Offers reader's advisory services as needed.
โ€ข Performs collections evaluation as needed. Compiles bibliographies and provides research assistance to Richmont students, faculty, and administrators.
โ€ข Supports interlibrary loan services, requesting items through the OCLC WorldShare platform and delivering them to students in a prompt and cheerful manner.
โ€ข Creates and maintains library guides through LibGuides. Assists the librarian in the creation of course guides at the start of each semester.
โ€ข Supervise the Graduate Assistant to ensures regular library desk coverage.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
  • At least two years of completed college coursework.
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills.
  • Facility with technology, ideally Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.), with a willingness to learn other systems and platforms.
  • Ability to exert moderate physical effort, including shelving books, climbing ladders, dusting furniture, and pushing/pulling loaded library carts.
  • Ability to work on-site at Richmont's Atlanta campus library.
  • Capacity to collaborate with Richmont students, faculty, and staff.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Completed 4-year (B.A. or B.S.) degree.
  • Prior experience working in a library or academic environment.
  • Experience with library cataloging metadata, standards, and software.
