Student Library Assistant
Job Description
The Harrisburg University Library is seeking a motivated and reliable Student Library Assistant who values learning and is interested in helping to support the academic success of the HU Community.
This job is a great opportunity to gain valuable experience in research, customer service, and information management and is ideal for students interested in education, research, library science, and/or academic support services.
Student Library Workers provide frontline assistance and assist staff with a range of tasks, events, and projects. They also provide valuable insights by advising library staff on student needs and perspectives.
Essential Duties
  • Processes interlibrary loan (ILL) requests.
  • Assist library patrons by answering common questions and providing referrals, directions, and instructions.
  • Research requests for books and other materials.
  • Assist with planning, set-up, and marketing for library events and activities.
  • Download and organize statistics.
  • Assist with lending services (shelf checks, reshelving, inventory checks).
  • Contribute to special projects such as resource analysis and research projects.
Requirements:
  • Currently enrolled at Harrisburg University
  • Available to work on site
  • Must work consistent hours at a minimum of 8 hours per week
  • Commitment to excellent user experiences
