Job description

Family Therapy Group of Weston is now accepting applications for placement in our Counseling Student Intern Program for 2026. This program is for Masters-level students who are completing their external practicum requirements in Nova Southeastern University's College of Ostheopathic Medicine (KPCOM), Department of Couple and Family Therapy (CFT) Program. **


Program Details

Family Therapy Group of Weston is a group practice that is a group practice that is dedicated to helping all aspects of family from individuals, kids, teens and couples struggling with mental health issues such as anxiety and depression but also family systems struggling with communication issues and past traumas.


The Counseling Student Intern will be given opportunities to shadow therapy sessions, engage in co-therapy, and provide clients individual, couples, and family counseling. In addition, the student intern will learn about evidence-based approaches to treating relationship issues, family conflict, grief/loss, anxiety/depression, and other presenting concerns.


This is a non-paid practicum experience. You will receive one hour of individual clinical supervision weekly. In addition a site supervisor is available to provide consultation or guidance as needed. Our clinical Director, Monica Arroyo, LCSW and Madison Wolfe, registered Mental Health Therapist Intern, will work with your graduate program and faculty supervisor to ensure all university/program requirements are met.


Minimum Qualifications for Counseling Student Intern Placement

  • Pursuing a CFT master's degree at KPCOM.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to learning evidence-based approaches to treating various mental health issues.
  • Preferred interest in systemic theory for use as a foundational understanding of human beings and their relationships to self and others.
  • Maintain strong ethical and professional boundaries.
  • Must be teachable and have a desire for professional growth.
  • Strong communication skills and willingness to ask questions.
  • Commit to at least one evening or Friday weekly for client appointments to attain program direct hours.
