Job description

SRC Summer Student Ministry Assistants work with the Student Ministry Directors for a period of 8-10 weeks between June to August, ministering to students by building relationships, praying with them, leading Bible studies and helping them deepen their relationship with Jesus. The Assistants connect, participate and lead at weekly student gatherings (Tuesday or Wednesday, depending on the ministry), Sunday mornings on campus when the church gathers for worship, and through smaller groups or 1 -on-1s during the week.
SRC has a healthy staff culture dedicated to Gospel expansion and a positive, collaborative environment that will offer Summer Assistants support and grace as they meet they grow in ministry skills and Gospel depth. SRC Summer Student Ministry Assistants will have the opportunity to serve with experienced ministry leaders and pastors who care about their development and future in ministry. During their lime at SRC, Assistants will learn an effective model for evangelism, how to work collaboratively on a team and will grow in self-awareness.
Assistants exhibit these behaviors:
- Use the "Handheld Evangelism" model to share and apply the Gospel with students who believe
and do not believe.
- Open their Bibles when they're with students to help them understand and apply the Scriptures.
- Pray for students and with students.
- Make sure the newcomer and outsider are engaged and included.
- Contributes ideas to the team and engages conflict directly with humility.
Assistants posture themselves for:
- Humility before others and teachable spirit.
- A high level of enthusiasm about Jesus, His love, SRC and students.
General Responsibilities:
- Connect, shepherd and minister to students.
- Assist with planning and implementation of student weekly meetings and all group activities. Attend various staff meetings as assigned by SMD.
- Attend summer camp with SRC High and/or SRC Middle.
- Develops a program, ministry focus, or campaign, in partnership and by approval of SMD that aids the building of the student ministry (ex: summer discipleship program, social media outreach campaign, etc).
Supervision:
Assistants report to the Student Ministry Director.
