Under the general supervision of the rehab manager, the student therapist II performs all the duties of a physical therapist in the state of Massachusetts. All documentation must be reviewed and signed off by a licensed physical therapist.

  • Required:
    • Education:
      • completion of an accredited physical therapy program resulting in a Master's or Doctorate level degree
      • Able to sit for physical therapy licensing exam (or transfer of credentials) in the state of Massachusetts within six months of date of hire
    • Licensure/Certification:
      • BLS certification required
      • Must meet the conditions as stated in G.L. c. 112, 23C. Section 23C: Athletic trainers, occupational therapists or physical therapists or assistants; practice upon filing of license application
  • Preferred:
    • Experience: Clinical rotation in area of practice highly encouraged but not required.
  • Treats Patients According to a Plan of Care - Provides goal oriented mobility based on predetermined patient needs. Adjusts the patients' session based on changes in patient status and function. Addresses any needs for adjustment to mobility level with primary therapist and/or appropriate covering therapist. Utilizes age appropriate techniques with patients. Considers cultural and religious preferences during treatments
  • Documents all Patient Care - Produces documentation that is accurate, concise, timely, and legible. Completes all required documentation by the end of work shift.
  • Interfaces with other professionals, students, and support staff - Effectively communicates with therapists regarding patient progress, needs, and any issues related to ongoing treatment. Effectively collaborates with appropriate interdisciplinary team members.
  • Participates in the overall day to day operations of the department - Manages time effectively by adhering to productivity expectations and utilizes down- time appropriately. Evaluates need for equipment and supplies and communicates to the appropriate person. Manages patient caseload effectively throughout the day and adjusts prioritization based on department needs.
  • Interfaces with other professionals, students, and support staff - Effectively communicates with therapists regarding patient progress, needs, and any issues related to ongoing treatment. Effectively collaborates with appropriate interdisciplinary team members.
  • Performs related duties as required
